X-Men: Apocalypse will feature our favorite superheroes as their younger selves, including the likes of Storm, Jean Grey and Cyclops. The cast includes Alexandra Shipp, Sophie Turner, Michael Fassbender, Jennifer Lawrence, Nicholas Hoult, James McAvoy, and Tye Sheridan, who will be portraying the young mutant Cyclops.
Following Apocalypse, no more films have been officially announced for the franchise quite yet (though the untitled Marvel films mentioned on its schedule for 2020 might be a clue of more to come).
Sheridan chatted with EW and mentioned that there are indeed plans to continue with the series, seeing as he's committed to playing Scott Summers in two more films post-Apocalypse.
While it is possible the bind to two more films could be more of a just-in-case precaution, director Bryan Singer has no plans to part from the series. Plus, it's highly unlikely the franchise would be discontinued while X-Men is still a hot commodity.
Speaking about casting young Sheridan in the role of Scott Summers/Cyclops, Singer recalls of his audition:
“The sophistication of the questions he would ask me were of a very intelligent nature. He thinks about the details and takes it very seriously.”
X-Men: Apocalypse is set to hit theaters on May 27. Be sure to catch the mutants as they kick ass in all their superhero glory.
