Fun fact of the day #2: Key & Peel are hilarious.

We have finally seen the release of the sort of highly anticipated film, Keanu, and boy... This movie might be a smash hit. This is one of the funniest comedies I've seen in quite a while. This film brings together one of the funniest comedy duos of this decade for a romp that will have you busting a gut and buying a kitten immediately after leaving the theater. So without spoiling anything, I'm gonna give you a few things that I loved about this film.

Comedic Chemistry Between The Two Leads

Having seen so many great sketches from the Key & Peele show, it wasn't a stretch to expect some great bits in the movie. I went into the movie expecting both actors to play off each other well and to get some great jokes in. What I was pleasantly surprised about was how many of the jokes actually hit. There are scenes between these two where they have to convince these gangsters that they are harder then them, and it is just amazing. Here are these two normal guys having to improv to infiltrate a gang just to get a kitten back. This movie is genuinely hilarious. Have you ever heard somebody say, "Yeah man, that was a real knee-slapper" about a joke? Well yeah, me neither because nobody really says that these days. Bad example. Anyways, my point is that never have I been in a movie and actually slapped my knee as I was laughing. It was weird. I felt uncomfortable doing it, but that is what great comedy can do! It can take you to uncomfortable places and... well, I don't really know I still feel weird about knee-slapping thing. People don't do that in public, do they? In fact, let me address something really quick. What is it with people using their hands to further express how funny something is? Things like clapping, knee-slapping, joining a step team, competing in tournaments with your frat brothers who are all great dancers. Actually... Never mind. I'm just describing Stomp the Yard. Wow that was a legendary digression in the span of a few sentences... Let's just move on here. It was funny (*shoulders shrug*).

But cmon, this movie was pretty cool, right? Right?

Keanu The Cat Is The Cutest Thing You've Ever Seen

Look at this cuteness.
Look at this cuteness.
I mean really, look at it.
I mean really, look at it.
LOOK AT IT.
LOOK AT IT.

I have to say right off the bat that I am a dog person through and through. I think dogs are the coolest animals ever and they're total bros (and sis's) for life. Cats I don't like so much. I believe fully that they are Satan's spawns and that they will steal your baby's breath. That being said, little Keanu in this movie is a cute little devil. Initially in the film this little guy belongs to a drug lord, runs away, and shows up on Peele's character Rell's doorstep just after he went through a terrible breakup. It is immediately love at first sight. Little Keanu gave Rell a reason to be happy again. Then while he is out with his cousin Clarence, he comes home to see his house has been broken into and robbed, and KEANU IS GONE. From this point the duo goes on a journey to become badasses and get their cat back, while also becoming better versions of themselves in the process.

All in all this is one of the big surprises of mine in 2016. Mark my words this movie will make a lot of money at the box office. Keanu is a must-see at the theaters this weekend! So, will you be seeing this in theaters or waiting for the blu-ray release? If you have seen it, let me know what you thought about it in the comments!
