Margot Robbie first got our attention back in 2013 with the release of [The Wolf of Wall Street](tag:16412). Then just 23-years old, Robbie burst onto the scene with some force after her spot-on portrayal of the wife of former Wall Street millionaire, Jordan Belfort. If you didn't know who she was by then, you most likely know her name now as she's giving us the first on-screen portrayal of Harley Quinn in the upcoming comic villain movie, [Suicide Squad](tag:2283363). She will also appear alongside Alexander Skarsgård as Jane Porter, the wife of Tarzan, in The Legend of Tarzan.

But who is Margot Robbie? In all fairness, she is still pretty new to the big Hollywood scene. Aside from The Wolf of Wall Street, her only other leading roles have been in the 2015 film, Focus, and the 2016 comedy, Whiskey Tango Foxtrot. With this article, we will have some fun in getting to know this up and coming Hollywood star. We might as well get used to her because I have a feeling we are going to be seeing a lot of her for years to come.

15. She is from Australia!

This beer and fries loving girl hails from Dalby, Queensland, Australia.

14. She got her big break on an Australian soap opera

A lot of big Australian actors have gotten their so-called "big break" or simply appeared on the soap opera, Neighbours. Robbie starred in the soap as Donna Freedham from 2008-2011. Neighbours also featured (at one point) stars such as Kylie Minogue, Holly Valance, Russell Crowe, Liam Hemsworth, Chris Hemsworth, and Guy Pearce.

13. She's also starred on American television

After moving to the United States, she was cast in the short-lived 2011 ABC show, Pan Am, alongside Christina Ricci. The show unfortunately didn't last, but we sort of love that Margot's career has continued on.

12. She once worked at Subway

Before getting her Hollywood break, she made ends meet by making sandwiches as a "Sandwich Artist" at Subway. She is human, after all.

11. She's a major sports fan

Margot Robbie is essentially a sports lover's dream girl. Not only did she put together a softball team with the cast and crew of Pan Am, she has a strong love for ice hockey and is a devoted fan of the New York Rangers.

10. She had some pretty big competition for the role of Naomi Lapaglia

Robbie beat out a number of actresses for the role of Naomi in The Wolf of Wall Street including Kristen Stewart, Teresa Palmer, Jessica Biel, Amber Heard, Blake Lively, and Rosie Huntington-Whiteley.

9. She needed a little bit of "liquid courage" before filming 'The Wolf of Wall Street' sex scenes

Most women would give an arm or a leg for the chance to get with Leonardo DiCaprio, but Robbie got a case of cold feet. Prior to her first sex scene with DiCaprio, she took three shots of Tequila to calm her nerves.

8. She accidentally slapped Leonardo DiCaprio

During her final audition for the role of Naomi Lapaglia, she got a bit carried away and laid an unscripted slap across the face of her co-star, Leonardo DiCaprio. She apologized and feared that it cost her the role, but DiCaprio was impressed by her dedication and asked her to slap him again. What a guy!

7. She auditioned for a role in 'Fantastic Four'

She auditioned for the role of Susan Storm/Invisible Woman in Josh Trank's Fantastic Four, but the role ultimately went to Kate Mara. Judging from how that one turned out, and the fact that she's our new Harley Quinn, you can definitely say losing out on the chance to be invisible was a blessing in disguise.

6. She turned down an Oscar-winning film

Robbie initially turned down the role of Sam in Birdman or (The Unexpected Virtue of Ignorance). The role went to Emma Stone who gained an Oscar-nomination for Best Supporting Actress and the film won Best Picture. We can't win them all.

5. She has worked with Will Smith before

She co-starred alongside Will Smith in the 2015 con artist film, Focus. The two reunited in the upcoming DC Villains film, Suicide Squad, as Harley Quinn and Deadshot.

4. She tried to trick her parents into thinking the nudity in 'The Wolf of Wall Street' was a body double

Doing your first full-nudity scenes are bound to be stressful enough, but thinking about how your family will react is a whole other ballgame. Margot Robbie's solution? Tell your family that it was a body double and that production used CGI to replace the double's face with hers. Hey, it might not have worked but we have to give her an A for effort.

3. She didn't audition for her role in 'Suicide Squad'

You know you've officially made it as an actor when major roles are offered to you. Robbie has said that she didn't need to audition or submit a demo reel for the role of Harley Quinn as it was offered to her.

2. She has an interesting nickname

Some nicknames we receive in grade school never fully go away. Hollywood actors are no exception as Margot's nickname has been "Maggot" since first grade.

1. We better get used to her because she wants to be Harley Quinn for a very long time

The online talk around Suicide Squad is getting stronger and stronger as the August 5, 2016 release date gets closer. While most are alright with Robbie's casting as Harley Quinn, not everyone is a fan of her or the costume choice. However, we might as well get used to her because she wants to be Harley Quinn forever and ever, or at least as long as she possibly can. This might include being involved in the rumored Suicide Squad sequel as well as Ben Affleck's solo Batman movie.

In addition to having a blast playing Harley Quinn, she has also dabbled in the world of tattooing. During production of Suicide Squad, she opened "Harley's Tattoo Parlour" and gave permanent body art to some of her co-stars, director David Ayer, and members of the production crew. By her count, she's given over 20 tattoos including one she gave herself.
