It seems like just yesterday Pokémon Red first reached North America. Even though that was back in 1998, Pokémon games sales are still going strong. According to the Nintendo Financial Results Briefing for this past year, Americans are still crazy for catching 'em all.

Nintendo sold a whopping 1.5 million copies of Pokémon Red, Blue, Yellow, and Green throughout the world, and of that 1.5 million, half were in America. As president Tatsumi Kimishima reports:

More than half of these downloads came from the American market. Since the start of the calendar year, Pokémon has been the subject of much attention in America, and sales are showing a favorable trend.

All four Pokémon games take the fourth place slot in the top five most downloaded games chart. They're preceded by downloadable content for Mario Kart 8 and the 3DS and Wii U versions of Super Smash Bros., which take the top two places.

What's your favorite Pokémon game?
