Fans of Charlie Brooker's dystopian anthology series Black Mirror have been eagerly awaiting news of the upcoming third season since it was announced late last year that Netflix would be producing it.

So far, we know that Season 3 will consist of a massive 12 episodes (the previous two seasons have consisted of seven episodes in total). Today, Deadline has announced that 10 Cloverfield Lane director Dan Trachtenberg is the latest director to bring his skills to the table!

Trachtenberg joins a whole slate of renowned directors who have signed on to the project including Joe Wright (Atonement), Jakob Verbruggen (Code 37) and James Hawes (Doctor Who). In addition to the high profile directors, Season 3 will also have appearances from actors such Bryce Dallas Howard (Jurassic World), Michaela Coel (The Aliens), Kelly MacDonald (No Country for Old Men), and Gugu Mbatha-Raw (Concussion).

Black Mirror is a anthology series created and written by Brooker. It debuted in the UK back in 2011 and won an International Emmy Award, a Peabody Award, a Rose D’Or and was nominated for a BAFTA. The series "taps into our collective unease with the modern world and each stand-alone episode is a suspenseful tale exploring themes of contemporary techno-paranoia."

A premiere date for Black Mirror Season 3 is yet to be announced.
