Deadpool was insanely enjoyable, incredibly entertaining, and I have to admit that I haven't laughed that hard in a long time as it was so freakin' funny. While we might look at the film as near perfection, director Tim Miller reveals that a particular scene didn't make the cut.
While chatting with Cinema Blend, Miller describes the touching scene he wishes would have made it to cinema screens during its theatrical release:
"There’s a scene, in the script it was called ‘The Cancer World Tour,’ where Wade and Vanessa went around the world to try and find a cure to his cancer. They end the Cancer World Tour having lost hope in this really creepy, shyster clinic in Guadalajara, and this doctor is clearly a quack. And Wade kills him. And it’s this really emotional scene, and Vanessa witnesses it, and it’s the first time he’s really let the monster out, and she sees who he is. And he runs away from her because he’s so ashamed. And it was a really great scene, and Ryan fucking crushed it. He just crushed it. He was so good, but it just didn’t work with the pacing of the movie so we cut it. It’s a really great scene."
Thank the lord for the Director's Cut! I would love to have seen this emotional bit of the story that supposedly takes place after Wade's diagnosis. Did I mention Ryan Reynolds and Morena Baccarin's chemistry? I'm completely down to add more scenes with those two together, as they were my absolute favorites.
You can check out this particular scene, and many more, on the Blu-ray edition of Deadpool, which hits shelves on May 10. Enjoy your chimichangas, everyone!
