In the upcoming X-Men: Apocalypse, Marvel's mutant superheroes — led by Charles Xavier and Raven — will face their toughest challenge yet when taking on the all-powerful original mutant En Sabah Nur (Oscar Isaac).
A new and exciting clip has been released by Hollywood A-lister and X-Man Jennifer Lawrence on her Facebook page. We get to see an interesting insight into how her popular character Raven plays a part in rescuing Nightcrawler.
Lending A Helping, Erm, Elbow
The brief snippet shows Nightcrawler forced into a voyeuristic cage fight in Germany, pitted against fellow mutant Angel. His winged opponent will go on to become one of the Four Horsemen of the Apocalypse, teaming up with Isaac's powerful mutant.
But before then, Kurt Wagner is in a spot of trouble. Surrounded by a high voltage cage, even his teleporting ability is rendered useless. Step in, Mystique — in the coolest way possible.
After laying the security guard flat on the ground with a hefty blow, Raven/Mystique then turns off power to the electric fence, paving the way for Nightcrawler to escape the ring.
A Return Of The A-List X-Men
Young Australian actor Kodi Smit-McPhee will be taking on the role of timid teen mutant Nightcrawler. The 19-year-old is perhaps best known for his role in dystopian drama The Road (2009), starring opposite Viggo Mortensen. His opponent in the ring is 25-year-old British actor Ben Hardy, who is making his feature film debut with his portrayal of Angel.
The rest of the X-Men ensemble, including James McAvoy, Michael Fassbender and Nicholas Hoult, will return for the follow-up to the sequel to 2014's X-Men: Days of Future Past. If you missed the trailer for Apocalypse (surely not?) then relive the magic below:
X-Men: Apocalypse is released on May 27.
