Teen Wolf and Arrow star Colton Haynes has officially come out as gay in an interview with Entertainment Weekly.

Earlier this year it was heavily rumored that the star was gay after he shrugged off comments from a fan who found pictures Haynes had once taken for gay magazine XY. The fan posted that they were excited after finding out about his "secret gay past," to which Haynes replied: "Was it a secret? Let’s just all enjoy life and have no regrets."

While that was taken as some what of a confirmation by many media sources, it wasn't until now that Haynes himself 100% confirmed the fact. "It was a complete shock. I wasn’t ready to be back in the headlines," said Haynes about the furor over the Tumblr post. "I should have made a comment or a statement, but I just wasn’t ready. I didn’t feel like I owed anyone anything. I think in due time, everyone has to make those decisions when they’re ready, and I wasn’t yet."

Haynes also spoke out about the difficulty of coming out as gay and being in public eye. "People want you to be that GQ image that you put out, but people don’t realize what it’s like to act 24 hours a day. I’d go home and I was still acting." He went on to talk about how tiring it was to pretend to be something he wasn't all day, everyday "people who are so judgmental about those who are gay or different don’t realize that acting 24 hours a day is the most exhausting thing in the world.”

Thankfully though, with the truth now out it seems like Colton now purely sticks to acting in front of a camera. And Haynes, who has struggled with anxiety in the past, seems to be very optimistic about his future. "It took me so long to get to this point, but I’m doing so good. I’m happier than I’ve ever been, and healthier than I’ve ever been, and that’s what I care about."

You do you, Colton!
