Captain Marvel is set to be the first female centered superhero movie of the Marvel Cinematic Universe, but fans have been waiting eagerly for any news regarding when she will arrive? Well the answer appears to be before starring in her own solo film.
The Russo brothers made a small slip-up during a Q&A session at the Smithsonian Institute. While speaking about Avengers: Infinity War Part 1, the Russo brothers were mentioning characters and accidentally dropped Captain Marvel's name into the mix. A fast thinking fan instantly asked the question.
Did you just confirm Captain Marvel
Noticing their blunder the brothers quickly replied with,
Um....Captain Barvel. Totally different character.
It is pretty obvious that she will be in Infinity War Part 1, but if you look at the dates for the release of this film and Carol's solo film you will quickly notice something. Avengers: Infinity War Part 1 is set for release nearly a year before Captain Marvel is released in 2019. So could Carol be showing up in another potential title before Infinity War?
With the two part Avengers movie set to be the climax of everything the Cinematic Universe has been building to, it seems to large a movie to introduce a new heroine. The film is already said to be pulling all the characters in the Cinematic Universe together, along with potentially including the characters from the television shows. It is hard to see how they would find time to introduce a new character along with what will be a very complicated plot already. So it is likely Carol will appear in another film before Infinity War Part 1. They have previously confirmed that she will not be appearing in Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2, however there is one other title that she could be introduced in before Inifinity War Part 1.
With Spider-Man: Homecoming now confirmed for 2017, it is possible we will see Captain Marvel aiding the webslinger. As odd as it may sound to many out there, Carol and Peter get on extremely well. The pair have teamed up on multiple occasion and been team mates. Due to Spider-man's popularity they would be able to introduce her to a massive audience all at once. Even more interesting is that in the comics, when asked if she was attracted to Spider-Man she did not deny having feelings for him. So besides being his extra muscle, her addition could also add an unexpected flirtation relationship between the duo.
When would you like to see Captain Marvel arrive in the Cinematic Universe? How do you think she should enter the hordes of heroes already established?
