CAUTION: The following article contains spoilers for The Flash as well as theoretical ones for the remaining episodes of the season. Proceed at your own risk.
Well if there is anything to say, it's that The Flash has 3 episodes left! As we are set to see things unfold, we have to take into account the disintegration of Barry when he attempted to get his speed back, resulting with Barry being trapped within the Speed Force.
However, thats not the end of the game. Barry will soon return (of course) but with the surprise of an army of metahumans despite his team having faced a familiar face (Girder) during his absence in the upcoming episode "The Runaway Dinosaur". Among the metas is their leader Black Siren, the Earth-2 counterpart of the late Black Canary from Arrow, perhaps something Zoom will use to mess around with Barry's feelings about allies. But as small of a hint that may be as to pertaining to details of the finale, actor Carlos Valdes had these words to say:
TV Line's Matt Mitovich said in an 'Ask Ausiello' Facebook live stream on Thursday. "I asked him [Valdes] for three words to describe the finale, and those three words are a 'huge crying event.'"
Crying event? While we saw these two words become true in last season's finale, it can be assumed that they have to do with these three possible events/theories I will discuss below.
3) Who Is The Man In the Iron Mask?
One of the greatest questions asked by fans in the latter-half of the season is who is the man in the iron mask?
A prisoner of Zoom's, this unknown man has been the center of theories, varying from being the real Jay Garrick to James Zolomon (Zoom's father). While we've seen him interact with fellow prisoners Barry Allen, Jesse Wells, and others, he hasn't been the exact guess. But if anything, there are always clues as we get closer to the final answer.
First of all, we remember him giving Barry and Jesse a message via Morse code back in the episode "Escape From Earth-Two". What was it? As Jesse spelled out, it was the name 'J-A-Y', most likely pointing to veteran speedster Jay Garrick. When Barry replied to him that Jay was safe, the man quickly got distressed. Why? Most likely because the Jay Garrick we came to know and love was only an imposter and in reality a past version of Hunter Zolomon a.k.a. Zoom. The only possible assumption is that this is the real Jay Garrick. However, when asked by the team who the prisoner was, the dangerous antagonist of Zoom simply replied:
"You wouldn't believe me if I told you." (The Flash 2.18)
If anything, this is set to be a deep mystery with the words "wouldn't believe". In the last episode (2.20; "Rupture"), Henry Allen, Barry's dad, informed him that Garrick was his grandmother's maiden name. Could this possibly mean that the man in the iron mask is related to Barry, perhaps even his great-grandfather from an earlier period in time? As ridiculous as that sounds, I feel that this manages to be something unbelievable and a hint toward the character's identity.
2) Will Someone Die?
Another kind of situation that tends to occur in the Arrowverse is that characters die either near the finale or in it. Last season on The Flash, we saw Eddie Thawne die in order to destroy the sinister Reverse-Flash while we witnessed Black Canary die at the hands of crazy Damien Dark on Arrow. Will that death cycle occur this season on The Flash? The possibility:
As we have come to see various main characters die every season, its most likely Dr Harrison Wells, the most brilliant mind on the team. While Zoom has wanted to kill The Flash quite bad, he's had envy towards Dr. Wells for quite some time already. Both Wells and Zoom have had the most bitter rivalry throughout the show and he's been forced to give the latter the scarlet speedster's speed, get his shoulder punctured, and get choked. Needless to say, the guy has gone through a hell of a time being chased by a demon as well as leading Team Flash, whom tend to doubt his actions.
Nevertheless, killing off Dr. Wells would be critical to The Flash seeing how he has been one of the greatest parts of theories. His attitude, frustration, and knowledge about Barry's limits and abilities come to make him the wise character out all the team. While there might be plenty of Wells throughout the multiverse, finding one like that of -2's would be deemed impossible.
1) The Flash vs. Zoom
The topping of The Flash S2 Finale is none other than the 3rd battle between The Flash vs. Zoom. While Barry got demolished in the 1st battle, he gained the upper hand the 2nd time. Check it out right here:
Either way, as we know, Zoom ended up escaping and forcing The Flash to give him all his ⚡. But with Barry tapping into the Speed Force after having disintegrated into it, he definitely has an advantage Hunter might not. After all, Barry is the fastest man alive. However, thats going to require assistance and we'll definitely be seeing it:
“After Zoom (Teddy Sears) unleashes an army of Earth-2 meta-humans on Central City, Barry is shaken when he sees their leader is the Black Canary’s Earth-2 doppelganger, the Black Siren (guest star Katie Cassidy). Meanwhile, Wally takes to the streets to help The Flash stop the meta-humans, which worries Joe. Iris and Henry (John Wesley Shipp) are concerned about Barry taking on Zoom.”
