Overwatch isn't like many other FPS games. Its catalog of heroes is wholly diverse and Blizzard, known for its extensive world building, has given fans short films and comics to indulge in their love of the lore.

Each short film and comic have been real crowd-pleasers so far, expanding upon the story through a handful of heroes from the game. The latest Overwatch digital comic, set to be released online later this week, showcases one of the game's most unique characters on its roster, Symmetra. Check out the cover art!

Under the designated moniker Symmetra, the brilliant hero Satya Vaswani manipulates hard-light constructs and crafts the world around her however she sees fit. With her talents, she is one of the premier architects for the Vishkar Corporation, a multinational corporate entity based in South India that maintains the prestigious Architect Academy. It's there where Satya honed her skills in hard-light manipulation.

Operating as a global trade agent, Symmetra is sent on missions around the world to uphold the interests and expand the influence of the Vishkar. In Overwatch lore, the Vishkar Corporation secured a contract to rebuild sections of Rio de Janeiro after the catastrophic events of the Omnic Crisis. This is part of the overarching Overwatch narrative that Symmetra: A Better World partly explores. Here's a brief synopsis of the upcoming issue:

When the Vishkar Corporation finds its latest proposal to remodel a Brazilian city center blocked by a mayor’s collusion with a rival real-estate developer, they call on SYMMETRA – the super-powered identity of Vishkar’s young architect Satya Vaswani – to get the contract by any means necessary. Unfortunately, when events explode out of control, Symmetra finds herself in over her head... and winds up questioning her mission.

Symmetra: A Better World is the fourth installment in a series of digital comics that Blizzard has developed in collaboration with some amazing writers and artists. There will be a total of six issues in this volume. You can read and download all previous issues for free at playoverwatch.com, darkhorse.com or on Madefire.

One cool bit about viewing the issues in Madefire is they are motion comics, complete with a riveting soundtrack and dynamic visuals. You can view those in the Madefire app (available for iOS, Android, Windows 10 and more), or on their DeviantArt profile.

Symmetra: A Better World was written by Andrew Robinson, who has worked on such TV shows as Green Lantern: The Animated Series, Young Justice, Generator Rex and Avengers: Earth's Mightiest Heroes to name a few. In 2011 he co-created and oversaw the animated series Kaijudo: Rise of the Duel Masters, which ran for two seasons. Robinson joined Blizzard Entertainment at the end of 2014 and has been happily writing animated cinematic shorts, in-game content and now comics for their various IPs.

The interiors and cover art for Issue 4 were done by Jeffrey “Chamba” Cruz. He's a Melbourne, Australia-based comic book illustrator who has worked with Udon Entertainment and Image Comics. Some of his credits include the Street Fighter II Turbo series, volumes 1 and 2 of Super Street Fighter, as well as Skullkickers and Wayward. Cruz also has his own graphic novel series, RandomVeus, that he continually works on, published through Udon.

Symmetra: A Better World will be available for free to read or download on May 12, 2016. Need even more Overwatch goodies? Be sure to watch the awesome animated short films Recall and Alive.
