We are making our ways further into the X-Men Universe, now leading up to the filming of The Wolverine 3. We have Jackman returning for the final time, along with the rumor of Patrick Stewart as Professor X. We have Boyd Holbrook as the villain, as well as Richard E. Grant, Stephen Merchant, and Eriq Lasalle making their appearance in the story. Before we dive deeper, Collider caught up with producer Kinberg. Here's what he said:
“It’s a very radical, bold, different Wolverine than you’ve ever seen in any of these movies.”
It certainly will have the R-rating, but Kinberg dug further and said this:
“I’m not sure what I’m allowed to say about that. I will agree with you that Patrick Stewart was rumored to be a part of that film. It takes place in the future, and as you and others have reported, it is an R-rated movie. It’s violent, it’s kind of like a western in its tone. It’s just a very cool, different film.”
We have a bit of a Western theme going on within the movie, which lays heavily on the Old Man Logan comics. With this tone and setting, we can see an older Logan interacting with certain "hill billies". Though, the Hulk family were the hillbillies, things will have to be changed in this version. We aren't sure if Stewart will be portraying a living Prof. X or just a manifestation of him yet either. We know this will take effect after the Days of Future Past. Which is left up in the air, since we're still in the past later this month in, 'X-Men: Apocalypse.'
Any way it goes, 'Wolverine 3' is still set to release on March 3, 2017. Don't forget to catch Logan again in 'X-Men: Apocalypse.'
