Our favorite mutton-chop-sporting, pec-baring, claw-flashing mutant is back in the titular Wolverine 3, which producer Simon Kinberg reveals has begun filming.
This film will sadly be Hugh Jackman's final transformation into Wolverine, and Kinberg is guaranteeing that the third movie in the trilogy will most definitely stand out from the previous films. While chatting with Collider, he said:
“It’s a very radical, bold, different Wolverine than you’ve ever seen in any of these movies.”
While Kinberg didn't dish on whether Patrick Stewart would be reprising his role as Professor X in the film, he did confirm that Wolverine 3 has received an R rating:
“I’m not sure what I’m allowed to say about that. I will agree with you that Patrick Stewart was rumored to be a part of that film. It takes place in the future, and as you and others have reported, it is an R-rated movie. It’s violent, it’s kind of like a western in its tone. It’s just a very cool, different film.”
So we know a little bit more now. The film will be set in the future and has a slight Western tone. It will also be rather violent. Could it mean that the film is based on the 2008–2009 Old Man Logan story by Mark Millar and Steve McNiven?
This theory sounds highly likely. But can we not have the supervillains win this time around?
