Ryan Gosling, 35, and Eva Mendes, 42, secretly welcomed their second baby girl, Amada Lee Gosling, into the world two weeks ago and didn’t tell a soul!

According to the leaked birth certificate, Amada was born less than two weeks ago on April 29th, at Providence St. John's Health Center in Santa Monica, CA… But the world is only just finding out now!

Déjà vu? Although the first time was not as slick, Mendes mastered the art of baby-bump hiding (it’s an art!) during her previous pregnancy with first-born Esmeralda Amada Gosling, 20 months old. Notice a pattern? Same art, same name.

What’s so special about the name Amada? Besides the fact that it is a positively beautiful name – yes, I said fact – it also has great sentimental value. Not only was it Mendes’s grandmother’s name, but it was important for the actress to keep her Cuban heritage alive. In fact, Amada means “beloved” in Spanish. So no, in case it crossed your mind, she did not name both of her daughters after her character Amada Juarez in We Own The Night (2007). Although it is ironic…

It’s no secret that the dream couple like to keep their matters private, but this time they have surely surpassed themselves. What is their rationale for going to great lengths to protect their family’s privacy? Mendes explained it all in an exclusive interview with Violet Grey in 2014 shortly after bringing life to Esmeralda:

“Whether we like it or not, privacy is going to be very difficult for Esmeralda. I think it’s unfair but that’s our reality. So Ryan and I decided early on to give her as much privacy as we could. And my pregnancy was the first opportunity to give her that. It’s such an intimate time for the mother, too. I know that it seems all very innocuous when you’re flipping through a tabloid at the doctor’s office or see a photo of a pregnant lady online, but I find the media’s ‘bump watch’ obsession to be both intrusive and stressful. So I made a decision to eject myself from it completely. I was like, ‘Annnnd I’m out.’”

The Place Beyond The Pines

Gosling (The Notebook) and Mendes (Hitch) started dating in 2011 while co-starring in The Place Beyond The Pines as a struggling couple with a baby. Don’t worry, their on-set and real-life family struggles vary greatly as they involve a few less robberies… That we know of. One thing is clear, however, the couple is madly in love. Gosling has even admitted in the past that the only quality he looks for in a woman is for her to be Eva Mendes. Lucky for him, he hit the jackpot!

Will there be a third and if so, will we be a step ahead of them this time?
