WARNING: Spoilers ahead for Captain America: Civil War.

Captain America: Civil War directors Anthony and Joe Russo have spoken out about one of the most geeked-out moments of the new film: The big change that Paul Rudd's Ant-Man undergoes in the movie's climactic airport fight scene.

In the midst of the battle, Scott Lang sees an opportunity to help Team Captain America by trying out a new feature of his Ant-Man suit, at the great risk of endangering himself: Growing bigger instead of smaller to become Giant-Man.

Anthony Russo tells USA Today:

“We played with a number of different ideas in terms of what it would be, but none of them had the potency of that Giant-Man beat there.

“He’s just really impressed with Captain America, he just wants to deliver and he figures out a way to deliver where he might actually tear himself in half but he’s willing to do it and it works. It just lined up on a lot of different levels.”

It was definitely a thrilling moment for fans and undeniable confirmation for Scott Lang that he belonged among the heavy hitters of the Avengers, despite being a new — and comparatively inexperienced — recruit.

Sure, he was eventually taken down thanks to the other team's rookie Spider-Man, but not without the full force of Iron Man and his friends behind him.

All in all, it was a pretty epic debut as an Avenger for an ex-con. He's come a long way since Baskin-Robbins.
