Netflix and DreamWorks are continuing their fruitful relationship with a new animated series based on the 1980s classic Voltron, aptly titled Voltron: Legendary Defender. The new series is produced by Joaquim Dos Santos and Lauren Montgomery, two of the key minds behind the fan favorite shows Avatar: The Last Airbender and The Legend of Korra.

The first trailer has just dropped, and it looks totally awesome and fun:

If you're too young to remember Voltron, think of it as one of the series that influenced Power Rangers in a big way; it's about five teenagers recruited to pilot giant lion-shaped robots that form together into a fighting machine to defend the galaxy from evil.

Voltron: Legendary Defender is set to debut on Netflix with an hour-long origin special titled "The Rise of Voltron" on June 10, followed by 10 half-hour episodes.

With a Power Rangers reboot on the way and a new Voltron series imminent, it's clear that giant robots fighting stuff will never go out of style. And we're better for it.
