Pull up your calendar. Scroll to March. No, not March 2017. I'm talking about March 2019, people.
Yes, we're going that far into the future, because Warner Bros. has pushed back Godzilla 2 to March 22, 2019 and Godzilla vs. Kong to May 29, 2020. Boo, hiss. But the plus side? You probably don't have any events planned for those dates as it's super far into the future.
Legendary and Warner Bros.' 2014 Godzilla grossed $529 million worldwide. Director Gareth Edwards returns for Godzilla 2, which had a previously set release date of June 8, 2018.
So why the pushback? It could be possibly due to the box office competition of a certain other monster film, Kong: Skull Island, which is scheduled for release on March 10, 2017. An origin story set on the king of the ape's mysterious home island, this flick is set to star such heavy hitters as Tom Hiddleston, Brie Larson and John Goodman.
