X-Men: Apocalypse is right around the corner, and whilst we're hearing that the film isn't all that special, we have been teased about the film's post credits scene which hints towards the future of the franchise.

Writer and Producer Simon Kinberg was talking to Collider and said the following about the X-Men: Apocalypse end credits tag:

"It's a nod toward potentially a lot of different movies. I mean certainly the Wolverine movie is related to what happens at the end of it, but there's also another character that's introduced, at least in name, in the tag and he could show up in any host of different X-Men films. Maybe a Gambit movie, maybe another X-Men movie."

My first guess is that the character mentioned by name is that of Mister Sinister, a villain from the X-Men series that has been long rumored to make an appearance in the movie franchise for some time. Mister Sinister's origin is actually tied to the villain of the latest X-Men film, Apocalypse. Apocalypse actually gives Sinister his powers.

Whilst the Days Of Future Past post credits scene was a direct link to Apocalypse, it sounds as though Apocalypse's end credits stinger may be slightly more ambiguous and only stick out to those with a knowledge of the X-Men comics.

We know that X-Men franchise is not slowing down any time soon, with Gambit, Wolverine 3, Deadpool 2, New Mutants, X-Force and an X-Men sequel set in the 1990's all on the table for Fox. Kinberg said that the scene definitely teases the next Wolverine film, will Sinister be the main villain of that film? We heard that the main antagonist is some type of scientist and Sinister formerly known as Nathaniel Essex was a biologist who studied mutants before taking on the persona of Mister Sinister. Mister Sinister has had ties to Apocalypse, Gambit and is featured in the story Old Man Logan, which next year's Wolverine 3 is rumored heavily to be inspired by.

Of course, I am going on a major assumption that the scene teases this specific character, but after Apocalypse, how much bigger can this series go?

Who do you think the scene will tease? Make sure to comment your guesses below and don't forget that X-Men: Apocalypse hits US theaters on May 27th and the UK on May 18th.
