The theatrical run of Batman V Superman: Dawn Of Justice has come to an end and although the reaction was polarizing, it did kickstart the DCEU. With Suicide Squad and Wonder Woman both coming before we get the Justice League next year, the wait shouldn't be too unbearable. One of the big rumors surrounding Justice League is that Darkseid won't be the main antagonist of the film. According to Birth.Movies.Death, the main villain would, in fact, be Steppenwolf, whom we saw in the Communion deleted scene earlier this year. If you've not watched that scene yet then go ahead and watch it below.

Yes, apparently that is Steppenwolf, and he is set to be the main villain the Justice League will have to take on next year. It seems, as we saw in the deleted scene, that Steppenwolf is seen with the three motherboxes which can be linked back to Darkseid. The latest rumor, however, tells a different story and that is Steppenwolf not appearing till the second half of the movie. It turns out that we might see Darkseid right at the beginning of the movie in a flashback.
If you're wondering why exactly would we have to see a flashback to Darkseid right at the beginning of the movie? The answer is that the Atlanteans, Amazons, and man have already fought Darkseid in the past. This scoop comes from Heroic Hollywood and here's what they had to say about this flashback.
Around 30,000 years ago, the Amazonians, the Atlanteans, and Man successfully fought off Darkseid here on Earth. He left three motherboxes behind and that folks is what Steppenwolf is after in Justice League: Part One. That is pretty much your plot.
Apparently this means that we might just get to see Wonder Woman and Aquaman have a sort of established relationship already. If that is the case, then it will be very interesting to see how they work together. I can only imagine how intense and epic that fight between the Atlanteans, Amazons, and Man against Darkseid might have been. If you can praise anything from Batman V Superman, it has to be that last fight scene, which was just beautiful. That scene alone gives me faith that Justice League will have some of the best battle sequences.
This, of course, leaves Steppenwolf to come towards the second half of the movie to reclaim the motherboxes left by Darkseid all those years ago. We have seen one already if you remember the Cyborg clip we got in Batman V Superman. The other two might be with the Amazons or Atlanteans, but for now, we will just have to wait. In the meantime, we have Suicide Squad coming out later this year and Wonder Woman following it before we get to Justice League. If all of these rumors are indeed true, it sounds like Justice League will be filled with many surprises and twists.
