It's been less than 72 hours since the news that Marvel's Agent Carter's cancellation was revealed to the world. Following the news, fans took to social media to convey their distaste for ABC's decision to cancel the 1940s spy drama and, after trending worldwide, it became evident just how popular Agent Carter was. What is perhaps the most interesting part of this story is that in the short time since the series' cancellation, fans have turned their attention to Netflix — the streaming service known for their collaborations with Marvel — in an attempt to save the series. A petition created not long after the news broke currently holds a whopping total of 39,726 signatures and is rising with every passing minute.

Constantly being shared on social media, more and more people are becoming aware of Agent Carter's popularity. Series regular Chad Michael Murray has also retweeted the petition, as has executive producer of the hit series Tara Butters. Moreover, an online campaign has been launched with the hashtags and , both of which are becoming popular trends on social media. Some fans have even begun emailing and private chatting Netflix to highlight the support for Agent Carter. The amount of support behind Peggy Carter is unquestionable, and the amount of signatures that the petition has garnered in such a short space of time is remarkable. The support is there, so we are left wondering if Peggy will make the jump to Netflix.

Work at Netflix, maybe?
Work at Netflix, maybe?

It's entirely possible. After all, Netflix does produce Marvel's Daredevil and Marvel's Jessica Jones, both of which take place in the same universe as Marvel's Agent Carter, so it would probably benefit the streaming service to revive the series.

The reason that fans have been up in arms since the series' cancellation is due to the cliffhanger ending of Season 2. Also, when the idea of a TV series following Peggy Carter was initially conceived, fans generally thought that they would get the opportunity to see Peggy take control of S.H.I.E.L.D., and the chance to witness S.H.I.E.L.D's early days — decades before the popular series Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. takes place. As of the second season we have yet to witness either, and considering that this storyline is what Peggy Carter is mostly known for, it's a missed opportunity. If Netflix does revive the series then this storyline would most likely be pursued, a storyline that is not only vital to Peggy Carter fans, but fans of the entire MCU.

It's remarkable what Agent Carter fans have accomplished thus far and in such a short amount of time. As the petition dances around 40,000 signatures, perhaps it's time that Netflix takes note, as there is very much a demand for Peggy Carter and one could be justified in calling them foolish if they passed on such an opportunity.

What do you think? Should Netflix add Marvel's Agent Carter to their collection of Marvel original series? Let me know in the comments!
