With just a few short months until the release of David Ayer's Suicide Squad, The Hollywood Reporter has revealed that Warner Bros. is developing a spin-off Harley Quinn movie.

Margot Robbie will be introduced as the cinematic Harley Quinn in Suicide Squad, which is set for release in August. As a legendary Batman antagonist and fan favourite character, it's no surprise that Warner Bros. want to expand Harley's role in the DC Extended Universe.

This isn't just a solo outing for Harley Quinn, THR also learned that Warner Bros. and DC Comics are hoping to develop cinematic interpretations of more female characters, as you can see in the quote below we might also see Batgirl, the Birds of Prey and possibly Poison Ivy join the DCEU.

In an interesting twist, the project is not a Quinn solo movie. Rather, it would focus on several of DC’s female heroes and villains, with names such as Batgirl and Birds of Prey surfacing.

DC Comics have a large collection of great female characters, and with a lot of attention on female superheroes this might be the perfect opportunity for DC to get an edge over the competition.

Which characters would you like to appear? Let us know in the comments section.
