Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson is a busy man, we all know this. Between filming upcoming movies Baywatch, Jumanji, Shazam!, Fast 8, as well as his HBO series Ballers, making periodical appearances in WWE, hosting awards shows and nursing a newborn baby, he's got no blank days on his hectic calendar.
Yet, according to an Instragram post by the superstar, he's got one more thing to add to his list: A mystery project with The Nice Guys writer/director Shane Black.
Black has two major movies on his docket — a Predator sequel dubbed simply The Predator as well as his long-gestating Doc Savage flick, based on the classic pulp adventurer.
The Rock only reveals that he'll be filming the mystery movie in 2017; currently, The Predator has a release date of March 2018 while Doc Savage has none, suggesting that the former is the more pressing film.
But while it seems that The Predator is the likely candidate for a 2017 production schedule, Black has recently gone on record saying that he'd like Johnson for the role of Doc Savage, telling Thrillist:
"Doc Savage is sort of in the ether now. We're hoping to make it sometime next year. I would very much like to do Doc with a fellow named Dwayne Johnson if we can make that work. I made a decision that Dwayne is the guy. It's on the back burner while he's busy."
So it sounds like The Rock — somehow — finally has the time and Doc Savage is moving forward.
