The Energon Cube that fuels the Transformers franchise clearly hasn't run out of power.

Paramount Pictures announced via Instagram that the fifth installment in its Transformers series will be titled Transformers 5: The Last Knight. The big reveal was heralded by a suitably stoic animation of Optimus Prime alongside a typically industrial, sleek, sci-fi logo.

While a new Transformers movie isn't a surprise, the title points toward Paramount's recent project — the Hasbro Cinematic Universe. Specifically, classic Hasbro property Rom the Spaceknight. The character appeared first in the 1970s as a toy, before branching off into a popular series from Marvel Comics. He's a spacefaring cyborg adventurer dedicated to protecting the galaxy from cosmic threats, making him a potentially great fit within the Transformers franchise.

Bringing a new character into these movies would be a good call, considering Paramount has already announced plans to build a Transformers Cinematic Universe, with a new film set to release each year starting in 2017. There's no official word on if the Transformers movies will cross over with the Hasbro Cinematic Universe, which will include films based on G.I. Joe, Micronauts, M.A.S.K. and Visionaries, but it seems a distinct possibility.

Are you ready for Transformers: The Last Knight? Do you think Rom the Spaceknight would fit in the Transformers Universe? Let us know in the comments.
