Along with The Exorcist, Fox is bringing back another staple of cinema this fall: The mismatched pair of LAPD cops, Riggs and Murtaugh.

The new Lethal Weapon series reimagines the classic buddy cop film as an hour-long TV series, casting Clayne Crawford as Martin Riggs and Damon Wayans as Roger Murtaugh. Check out the action-packed — and surprisingly dark — trailer below:

Where Fox's The Exorcist seems to be deviating a bit from the source material, Lethal Weapon looks like it's taking the world to heart that Shane Black and director Richard Donner created. The premise is on point, with a suicidal Riggs getting paired with an aging veteran who, somehow, find the best in each other while also shooting a lot of bad dudes. The trailer even borrows Murtaugh's "don't kill anybody" joke!

Lethal Weapon doesn't have a set premiere date yet, but is expected to bow sometime in the fall.

Speaking of Lethal Weapon, why not check out Movie Pilot's Shane Black Fanzine?
