Last year, fans everywhere heard the news of their favorite wall crawler swinging into the MCU. The internet lit on fire with praises, and even some complaints along with it. Lots of fans didn't care about Spider-Man being rebooted yet again, they just wanted to see him in his rightful universe. On the other side of the spectrum, there were fans that weren't too happy about this hero getting yet another reboot.
Aside from the excitement derived from Spider-Man's inevitable introduction into the MCU, fans have speculated on wether or not other superpowered characters would join in on the fun. Specifically, characters affiliated with the likes of the X-Men and The Fantastic Four, who are owned by Fox and not Marvel. Although there have been rumors about these characters jumping into the MCU, those whispers have seemed to be a bit far-fetched.
The possibilities that could result in all of the Marvel characters dwelling in the same universe are endless. Often, we like to imagine the epic team-ups we could witness if Fox were to get their act together and sell the rights to their characters back to Marvel. This time, I'd like to do something different, and go over a couple of epic matchups that we have been dying to see on the big screen. But not just any matchup! Over the years, the Hulk has gotten himself into an outstanding number of epic brawls (no surprise there):
A lot of those brawls were with characters that are unfortunately still owned by Fox. But who knows, maybe one day our dreams of Marvel having the rights to all of their characters will come true, bringing some of these hulk-sized brawls to the big screen!
4. Hulk vs. Thing
These two have been at each others throats for decades in animates series, and comic books alike. Their love-hate relationship that involves being friends one second, then engaging in battle the next, is something I'm sure we've always wanted to see on the big screen. If Marvel was to own the rights to The Fantastic Four, I'm sure they would make this happen one way or another. Wether in an Avengers/FF team-up, or simply in a Hulk solo film. To make this possible, would be to make the dreams of many nerds like myself, come true.
3. Hulk vs. Juggernaut
To say the least, Juggernaut's onscreen debut wasn't very pleasing. We have seen cosplay suits better than the one actor Vinnie Jones wore in X3: The Last Stand. The movie as a whole was easily forgettable. Fans like myself have worked hard to repress the disaster that was X3, from our memories. Then Days of Future Past came along, redeeming Fox after their mishap. Now if they were to take things a step further and give their characters back to Marvel, they could make us even happier.
We can assume that if the two universes were to collide, we would get updated versions of each character, such as Juggernaut. One with the size and brawn to go toe-to-toe with the not-so-jolly green giant. Egocentric banter quipped with seismic blows is what this fight would entail. Who wouldn't want to witness this?
2. Hulk vs. The Illuminati
Now this one goes hand-in-hand with Hulk's battle against Juggernaut. We could very well see a variation of this brawl against the Illuminati and a multitude of other heroes take place in the MCU without them having to use any of the characters that belong to Fox. But what would be the fun in that? During the World War Hulk storyline, our green behemoth is sent off into space after the powerful organization known as The Illuminati decide he's too dangerous to keep here on Earth. The Illuminati consists of heroes Iron Man, Mr. Fantastic, Namor, Black Bolt, Professor Xavier, and Doctor Strange.
The spaceship in which they used to send Hulk into space exploded, killing Hulk's pregnant wife. Hulk blames The Illuminati for her death, and heads back to Earth with a group of raging allies for revenge. Now a vindictive Hulk, along with a group of behemoths, going up against some of Earth's mightiest heroes? That's something I would like to see.
1. Hulk vs. Wolverine
Being older than the MCU itself, you'd think we would have seen these two clash on the big screen already. Hugh Jackman's Wolverine taking on the Hulk in a gory, rage-driven battle was something I'm sure we've always wanted to see! Since the day these two debuted on screen, we have had our hopes high for the two to finally go at it.
I believe it could work easily in a solo Hulk or Wolverine outing. But that's just a young man's dream. If that were to ever happen, I have confidence that we would not leave the theater disappointed. From nearly killing each other to literally ripping each other apart, there was never a dull moment with these two.
