As we approach a full decade since the series finale of The O.C., it's practically embarrassing to consider how little closure we have.
Just as we were beginning to think our wounds were healing, Netflix dropped the entire series which aired in 2003, bringing us back to our first stage of grief. Let's see how the original cast is holding up, shall we?
Ryan Atwood a.k.a. Ben McKenzie
After The O.C., Ben McKenzie gave movies a shot, but his fame returned to him once he re-entered the world of TV. Let's be real, we need more of Ben than what he can offer us in a simple hour or two. The Chino boy went from Orange County to Los Angeles in TNT's Southland, as one of the main officers for the LAPD, Ben Sherman. The show was canceled, but McKenzie bounced back quickly and was cast as the lead in Fox's hit show Gotham.
He is currently dating his costar Morena Baccarin (not only as Leslie Thompkins from Gotham, but also as Maya Griffin in a few episodes of The O.C.). Baccarin is currently pregnant with his first child.
Marissa Cooper a.k.a. Mischa Barton
Mischa Barton decided not to renew her contract with The O.C. in 2006, so she could focus on movies. While she began her career that way, (let's not forget about the little dead girl under the bed in The Sixth Sense), The O.C. contributed to most of her fame, practically overnight. Some bitter fans blamed her for bringing the show to an end.
She landed a lead role as Sonja Stone in Ashton Kutcher's CW series The Beautiful Life: TBL in 2008 and guest-starred as a pregnant hooker on Law & Order: Special Victims Unit. She starred in an array of movies and TV shows, but none with particular success partly because of issues in her private life. The actress came into trouble with the law for driving under the influence and possession of marijuana. She recently got back in the game by competing in Season 22 of Dancing With The Stars before she got eliminated in week 3. We'll still dance with you, Mischa!

Seth Cohen a.k.a. Adam Brody
While filming The O.C., Brody landed a role in Mr. & Mrs. Smith (2005). Since, he has appeared in several roles in both movies and television, including Jennifer's Body, Scream 4, Lovelace, Burning Love, and New Girl. He is also in a few ongoing productions such as Hollyweed, CHiPs, Big Bear, and Showing Roots.
Romantically, Adam Brody is fulfilling a CW dream we never knew we had. He is married to Leighton Meester (a.k.a. Blair Waldorf in Gossip Girl) who gave birth to their daughter Arlo last summer. Read more about them here.
Summer Roberts a.k.a. Rachel Bilson
Rachel Bilson managed to stay in the spotlight after The O.C., starring in movies such as Waiting For Forever and Jumper, alongside her boyfriend, Hayden Christensen. She also guest-starred as the mother's roommate in How I Met Your Mother. Most importantly, she was cast as the lead Dr. Zoe Hart in The CW's Hart of Dixie, which lasted 4 seasons. Bilson and Christensen have a daughter, Briar Rose, born in October 2014.
Sandy Cohen a.k.a. Peter Gallagher
Unlike most actors in The O.C., Peter Gallagher was already successful before his Sandy Cohen days (American Beauty, anyone?) and continues to be today. Since his farewell to Sandy, he continues to mostly appear in TV series with a few exceptions such as Burlesque, Step Up, and Hello, My Name Is Doris. He’s made far too many appearances on TV series to even keep track of, including: Californication, Rescue Me, How I Met Your Mother, The Good Life, New Girl, and Law & Order: Special Victims Unit. Gallagher’s most recurring role has been on HBO's Togetherness, all while filming DeTour, Cruel Intentions and Center Stage: On Pointe. He has been married to Paula Harwood since May 7, 1983, with whom he has had two children, James and Kathryn.
Kirsten Cohen/Kiki a.k.a. Kelly Rowan
Post-The O.C., Rowan guest-starred in shows like CSI: Miami, Castle and Murdoch Mysteries. Her most recurring role has been as Natalie Vincent in TNT’s Perception. Kelly also produced She Drives Me Crazy in 2007, a made-for-TV movie about a recent widow who goes on a road-trip to her high-school reunion with her sister (played by Melinda Clarke). Kelly gave birth to a daughter in April 2008 with her ex-fiancé, billionaire David Thomson.
Julie Cooper a.k.a. Melinda Clarke
Who could ever forget the infamous Juju? Clarke’s career has continued to flourish post-gold digger days (only in The O.C. guys!). Her roles have mostly occurred on TV, as Lady Heather on CSI: Crime Scene Investigation, a version of herself in Entourage, Kelly Donovan in The Vampire Diaries, Lena Cavallo in Vegas, and Amanda in Nikita. The creator of The O.C., Josh Schwartz, had another TV series called Chuck, in which Clarke guest-starred as Sasha Banacheck. More recently, she satisfied The O.C. fans with a little reunion with her former co-star McKenzie, as Grace Van Dahl on Gotham.
Jimmy Cooper a.k.k.a. Tate Donovan
Donovan had a long career before making his way over to Orange County. Remember Joshua in Friends? After The O.C., Donovan starred in TV show Damages for three seasons. He got a role in Shooter and minor role in Argo, which won an Oscar for best picture in 2013. Donovan has had many TV series such as Deceptions, Hostages, 24: Live Another Day, and Master of Sex. Even more recently, you might catch him in Elementary or Limitless, so keep an eye out for our Jimmy Cooper… (Or he might take all your money!)
