Recent reports are suggesting that Marvel and Netflix are working on bringing three more characters to the small screen, and those three are expected to be Ghost Rider, Blade and Moon Knight. If these reports are true then it is a huge deal for any Marvel fan.
These three characters are a perfect fit for the Netflix portion of the Marvel Universe, and I know Marvel will knock whatever casting decisions they make out of the park like they always do, but I want to take a shot at it and give three lists of actors who could bring these characters to life.
Blade's casting list can be found here.
Ghost Rider's casting list can be found here.
This list will be on Marc Spector, better known as Moon Knight.
Marc Spector is a dark and ruthless character that has multiple identity disorder , and also happens to be a vigilante who roams the streets at night, beating criminals to a bloody pulp. Imagine Daredevil, if Daredevil were borderline crazy and homicidal.
Here are 11 actors that I think can portray this character and his hardcore characteristics. Some of these actors may be older or younger than the Marc Spector in the comics, and some of these actors you may not ever have considered for a superhero role.
I hope fans keep an open mind:
11. Josh Duhamel
I am not the biggest fan of Josh Duhamel, but he bares a strong resemblance to Marc Spector. I don't know how well he will be able to play the darker characteristics of Spector, but I have seen lesser actors do more. He might be a throw-in on this list, but I feel like a Netflix series is right up Duhamel's alley and he seems like the kind of actor Marvel looks for.
10. Kit Harington
Harington is a huge name right now and he may not be interested in jumping from one TV show to the next, but Marvel could persuade him. He can play brooding and angry, and he can pull off any other aspects of Spector's character that the show would require.
9. Brad Pitt
I have been looking for a spot in the Marvel Cinematic Universe to slide Pitt in, and I think Moon Knight is the best option left. Pitt is getting up there in age, and it would be hard to picture him being able to handle the workload of an entire action series, but if Pitt can find a way to do it, then he is the perfect acting fit for the role.
8. Anson Mount
Mount is known for his western role on Hell on Wheels. He is an actor who thrives on badass roles, and while he has not taken on a character as dynamic as Marc Spector, I believe in his acting ability and I think he is a great fit for the darker tone of Marvel's Netflix world.
7. Damian Lewis
Known for his amazing acting on Homeland, Lewis caught the eyes of many. He has a range that has been overlooked up until this point. There have been rumors of him possibly being the next James Bond, which I am sure appeals to him more than a Netflix show. If he did get the role, Lewis could bring Spector to life, and Marvel would get another amazing talent under their belt.
6. Andrew Lincoln
Andrew Lincoln has a lot on his plate right now, so I doubt adding a Netflix show to his schedule is a possibility. Lincoln has proven he can portray multiple personalities, and his Walking Dead character, Rick, has teetered back and fourth on the sanity scale.
5. Jon Hamm
Jon Hamm is a huge name and has the acting range to pull off this character. He played a troubled character in Mad Men and Moon Knight is the kind of character that could be the next step for him. The is the type of damaged character that serious actors dream about getting a chance to play, and I think Jon Hamm has what it takes. I think Marvel would love to have Hamm in their universe.
4. Joe Manganiello
This guy was up for both Superman and Batman, but what about switching over to Marvel? Manganiello has a resemblance to Spector from the comics and is muscular enough to fill out the suit. His acting will be in question, as he has never taken on a role quite this dark, but if he can pull it off, he would become one of the most beloved characters in the Marvel Universe.
3. Jake Gyllenhaal
His range is limitless and he could pull off this character with ease and give the Netflix series a big name. He has been shying away from franchise roles and the possibilities of him doing a Netflix show are slim, but if he would do it, he would be one of the best characters in the Marvel Universe.
2. Trai Byers
Trai Byers may be an unknown name to you, but he is an amazing acting talent. He outshines his cast mates on Empire and he already plays a character that has to deal with bipolar disorder and he portrayed in such an amazing way. It would not be hard for him to play a character with multiple identity disorder. I am surprised he was not nominated for an Emmy. He is able to give off a tough guy bravado while also portraying a wealthy business man much like Marc Spector.
1. Michael C. Hall
Hall was a standout in Dexter where he put together a chilling performance as a serial killer, but since his days on the hit show he has not been able to find the same kind of success. I think he would be able to pull of Moon Knight's homicidal tendencies and portray the anti-hero role amazingly.
