After The Rocky Horror Picture Show first opened, it was widely considered a major flop. But for decades now, fans of the 1975 cult classic have been dressing up for the midnight screenings and singing along with Tim Curry's mellifluous tones.
Thanks to Fox, it's time to venture back to the late-night double picture feature show. In addition to Curry returning to the movie for the role of narrating Criminologist, there are some new faces appearing on Dr. Frank-N-Furter's slab in this reimagining of the musical horror comedy.
Check out the talented men and women taking on the annual Transylvanian science convention in The Rocky Horror Picture Show:
Dr. Frank-N-Furter — A Scientist
Played by then: Tim Curry
Now: Laverne Cox
Orange might be the new black, but Cox is definitely rocking this all-leather attire.
Janet Weiss — A Heroine
Played by then: Susan Sarandon
Now: Victoria Justice
Justice may have traded Sarandon's curly locks for a straight 'do, but we know she has the pipes to pull off the role of Janet.
Brad Majors — A Hero
Played by then: Barry Bostwick
Now: Ryan McCartan
Not all heroes wear capes. In fact, some wear glasses and giant silk bow ties.
Riff Raff — A Handyman
Played by then: Richard O'Brien
Now: Reeve Carney
You might know Carney as Dorian Gray in Penny Dreadful, but did you know he also played Peter Parker in the Spider-Man Broadway musical Spider-Man: Turn Off Thee Dark?
Magenta — A Domestic
Played by then: Patricia Quinn
Now: Christina Milian
Famous recording artist Milian also joined the ranks of Rocky Horror as Magenta and revamped Magenta's deep-red mane for, well, magenta.
Columbia — A Groupie
Played by then: Nell Campbell
Now: Annaleigh Ashford
Broadway star Annaleigh Ashford, who played Glinda in Wicked, is losing her good-witch act to play the sassy groupie Columbia.
Rocky Horror — A Creation
Played by then: Peter Hinwood
Now: Staz Nair
Wave goodbye to Rocky's blond bowl cut, because Nair is proudly showing off his roots as the freshly birthed experiment.
Dr. Everett V. Scott — A Rival Scientist
Played by then: Jonathan Adams
Now: Ben Vereen
Roots actor Ben Vereen is looking less Ernest Rutherford and slightly more Albert Einstein. But there's one thing these two men of science can agree on: Tartan plaid never goes out of style.
