According to TVLine, The CW president Mark Pedowitz spoke about Supergirl's transition from CBS to its new home on his network. As reported last week, Supergirl will be joining The CW’s DC-filled schedule that includes Arrow, The Flash and Legends of Tomorrow. Pedowitz has promised fans that the network’s annual superhero crossover episode will be “the biggest ever.”
Now that The CW has four DC shows on its roster, I can't help but think that all of them might combine for an epic four-part event! Another point of interest is that Pedowitz suggested Supergirl “should've been” on The CW from the beginning, and the move won't spell major changes for the show:
"The fact that it’s moving where it should’ve been in the first place is not going to have a big effect."
Will Calista Flockhart Make The Move To Vancouver?
Supergirl's move from CBS to The CW would likely mean that production will move to Vancouver. This has left fans wondering if Ally McBeal legend Calista Flockhart — who plays Cat Grant on the show — will also make the move. Pedowitz said that there are “ongoing discussions” with Flockhart, adding:
"We are thrilled that she wants to continue on the show, and we are thrilled to have her in whatever capacity.”
This doesn't sound too promising for fans of Flockhart and her character. While it is understandable if the actress doesn't want to make the move from California — where Supergirl was filmed and where Flockhart lives with her son Liam and husband Harrison Ford — much of the show's premise relies on her character Cat Grant and her influence over Supergirl. Moreover, Grant's humor is often the highlight of each episode. From Pedowitz's comment, it's likely that Flockhart will only appear in a recurring capacity next season.
More information will likely be revealed at The CW upfronts, which are set to take place today.
