If you remember the visceral thrill of Park Chan-Wook's blisteringly intense horror-thriller Oldboy, you'll be excited for his next movie. Quite apart from the director's beautiful, violent handiwork, there's another unique pull for The Handmaiden: it's now the most successful Korean film of all time.

Park Chan-Wook's The Handmaiden just leapfrogged Bong Joon-Ho's Snowpiercer to the top spot, as THR reported:

''Even before its Cannes premiere, the film had already pre-sold to about 120 countries at the American Film Market, in Berlin's European Film Market and Hong Kong's Filmart. Amazon Studios has U.S. rights and will bow the movie, via a still unnamed theatrical partner, stateside in September.''

OK, enough hype. Check out the trailer.

Pretty amazing, right? Expect spanked butts and fierce cinematography...

The Handmaiden is released in the US September 2016. Excited?
