Spoilers for Legends of Tomorrow will follow!
What a finale! Greg Berlanti teased a massive reveal, and boy was he on the money! DCdone the unthinkable and have finally revealed that the Justice Society of America is on its way! Oh, and they also introduced Hourman! While I try to calm myself over the crazy revelation, I also have think about what will happen to the team.
As expected, the Legends of Tomorrow team will go through a massive transformation. The loss of Kendra and Carter leaves the team without their two powerhouses, Mick chose to leave Snart out of the equation, and Hourman has revealed there is a Justice Society of America. It's safe to say that there will be massive changes to the group and we pretty much already knew that.
The show's executive producer Phil Klemmer previously stated;
[The first episode of season two] will very much be a new pilot with new good guys, new bad guys, new stakes, new dynamics, new goals.
So new heroes and villains will join the fold, but who? We already have confirmation that they will be adding two new characters that haven't be introduced yet. The official descriptions state;
"the female member of an elite paramilitary team living in the 1940s. An African-American, she is scrutinized in her time for both her gender and race and thus has worked twice as hard to be a perfect soldier. That said, she blames herself for — and aims to avenge — the death of a team member for whom she had repressed feelings."
While the description is pretty vague, could we be seeing a female member of the Blackhawks?
The second character's description states;
"A male in his late-20s to mid-30s is being sought to play a guy who grew up in the shadow of his World War II hero grandfather and has used a Han Solo-like facade to conceal his insecurity — until, that is, the development of super powers enables him to live up to his family legacy."
Once again the description is vague, but many have speculated that this is to be Sgt Rock or Damage. It's worthwhile noting that Damage is the son of the original Atom, so that would be interesting if they integrated this into the show.
It was also confirmed that we would get the debut of a fan favourite hero which turned out to be none other than Hourman! I honestly freaked out when I saw the costume, but when he announced that he is a part of the Justice Society of America, I simply lost my mind!
Now that we have covered the new characters and the introduction of Hourman, let's dive into the current roster, and who I believe will be joining them. Please note that the roster has been confirmed to rotate, meaning that characters can drop in and out of the show at anytime!
Rip is the captain of the Waverider and the leader of the Legends. There's no doubt that he will be returning for the show's second installment.
Sara Lance/White Canary
They have been teasing Sara becoming the new leader of the team during the run in of Season One, and I believe that Rip will give the wave rider over to her. There have been many hints at this possibility, and she has demonstrated that she is the true leader of the team throughout the season.
While she may return to Arrow for the start of season 5 (replacing Laurel no doubt) I believe she will ultimately leave for the Legends in the second half if the series is still airing with 16 episodes a season.
Honestly, I expected Mick to leave at the end of the finale. I really thought he was going to stay with Snart in 2013, but seeing the heart-warming farewell made me glad he didn't leave. He was the guy who many thought would die or leave during the season, but he has grown into one of the most likable characters, and I am glad he is on board for season two!
The character that many fans thought would be the leader of the team, Ray has become somewhat of a hindrance on the show. His forced romantic subplot with Kendra has received universal backlash, and his constant need for approval and quests for purpose have been viewed as annoying by many fans.
While that may be true, most of this happened at the beginning of the season, and Ray has come a long way since. He has shown that he will die for the team and do anything for them. I believe he will go through some serious character development in Season Two!
Jax and Stein/Firestorm
There's no denying it, Jax and Stein were a main highlight of season one! Their constant bantering and arguing provided some excellent comic relief, and since Snart will no longer play a part in Legends, the show will need some of that!
While all of the characters have developed greatly since first joining the team, no one can deny that Jax and Stein have developed the most. Need proof? Just look at last week's episode where Jax interacted with the past Stein!
What a reveal! I haven't freaked out at a TV show like that since they name dropped Ra's Al Ghul in Arrow season two! For those who don't know who Hourman is, he is a scientist who discovered the vitamin "miraclo" (not mirakuru). The vitamin grants the user many powers such as; superhuman strength, speed, stamina, and durability, as well as night vision and the ability to survive underwater. The side effect? It only lasts for one hour, hence the name Hourman. Unfortunately he has to take a concentrated dose of the vitamin once a day to make sure he doesn't suffer from dangerous side effects.
His inclusion has set up the Justice Society of America, which will serve as the DCTV Universe's equivalent of the Justice League. We have speculated that Green Arrow, Flash and Supergirl would form the team in the four part crossover rumoured for fall, but now we have confirmation that this will most likely happen!
Since it is now the Justice Society we are setting ourselves up for, the show will need more members, so here are my guesses for who will join.
Who will be joining the team?
DC fans rejoice! Colton Haynes has all but confirmed his involvement in the second season of Legends with his recent posts on social media. He posted a photo of himself, Rick Cosnett (Eddie Thawne) Robbie Amell (Ronnie Raymond) and Caity Lotz (Sara Lance) with the caption "With my cast mates". Roy never shared a single scene with Cosnett or Amell during his tenure on Arrow, although he did star in several episodes with Lotz on the show, so why would he post this? While it is possible Ronnie and Eddie could return for Season Two of Legends, I doubt they would bring them back. What really confirms his involvement is this photo he shared of him and Caity Lotz.
Look at that hashtag! If that turns out to be a cruel tease I will cry. Haynes has confirmed that he will return as Roy for several episodes of Arrow's fifth season; looks like his appearance will be setting up his inclusion to Legends.
This is unlikely to happen, but how amazing would this be!? Manhunter is a side character on Supergirl, and with the show now moving to the CW, Manhunter could very well crossover to Legends! While this is just the simple wish of a fan, I really do hope that this happens! Now that it's confirmed that a Justice Society is being formed, what better time to include Manhunter than now!
The producers would be making a big mistake by not including Jonah Hex in Season Two. An instant hit with the fans during his appearance in Season One, Hex has been requested by many to be included in Season Two.
Wally West and Jesse Quick
It is obvious that The Flash is setting these two up to become speedsters- but does the show have enough room for three speedsters on Team Flash? It's more than likely that Wally and Jesse, or just one of them, will join the roster, just like how Firestorm joined from Flash. Let's face it, Team Flash would be too over-powered with three speedsters and vibe on board!
Constantine (IF CW GET THE RIGHTS)
We all know that Constantine went through contractual hell, with the character only being allowed one appearance in Arrow. While fans beg for a Constantine TV series, I don't believe CW will be gutsy enough to do that, especially with them now having Supergirl, Flash, Arrow and Legends of Tomorrow on Monday-Thursday. This will leave Constantine with the Friday night death spot, which led to its cancellation over at NBC. If they won't make a TV series for the character, then at least make him a regular over on Legends of Tomorrow!
Just like Manhunter, Livewire was a great addition to Supergirl. While it is unlikely that she will crossover, it would be great to see her added to the roster. The show is missing that criminal element now that Snart has left, and Brit Morgan certainly hams up her role just like Wentworth Miller did with Cold.
Huntress or Black Siren
Like is said above, the show is missing its criminal element with Cold leaving the team. What better time to bring in the sorely misused Huntress, or the much-needed Black Siren?
Of course, the show could only use one of these characters, as one of them is primed for an appearance in Arrow Season Five. With Question rumoured to be the season five villain, Huntress would be needed over at Arrow, but with Black Siren rumored to replace Laurel on Arrow, she would also be needed. If I have to choose, I'd choose Black Siren. Laurel and Sara never got to team up all that much on Arrow, and to see Sara deal with her "sister" would be very entertaining. This would also give Siren a chance to redeem herself before joining Arrow, if she is to replace Laurel.
Now there could be many characters added to the show during the fall crossover just like the Hawks were, so it will be fun to see who will be added to the roster for Season Two. Any characters you would like to see added to the show? Share your thoughts in the comments below and I'll be sure to get back to you!
