It seems like with every comic book movie, there is at least one actor who starts a subtle (and sometimes not-so-subtle) campaign to be cast as one of the characters.

With Deadpool being one of the biggest movies of the year, it's no surprise that a few actors have been clamoring to land the role of Cable, the time traveling BFFrenemy to Wade Wilson. First, it was Avatar's Stephen Lang. Then earlier this week came the news that Dolph Lundgren would be keen.

Now, it appears Ron Perlman is throwing his hat into the ring. Earlier today, the Sons of Anarchy and Hellboy actor shared a picture to his Facebook page of him paired with a comic book cover of Cable, along with the caption, "Even my fave artist got into the fray... ."

For those of you wondering, the Shaine Schroeder mention pertains to the artist throwing his support behind Perlman on Instagram a few days ago. This was just after Perlman posted an earlier picture — and made it clear that he was the only one with the hair for the job.

I mean, the man's not wrong. He does have some magnificent, snowy-white Cable-esque hair.

For the record, Perlman's always been my first choice to play Cable. Because sometimes, the best choice is the most obvious one.

At this point, they might as well just cast him, if only so we can get our fix of seeing Perlman in a quirky comic book adaptation, since Hellboy 3 has about as much chance of happening as Firefly being resurrected.

Plus, could you imagine how Perlman's gruff, no-nonsense personality would play against Ryan Reynolds' wackiness as Deadpool? Imagine this scene with the two of them:

But what do you think? Would Perlman nail the role, or do you have someone else in mind? Let me know in the comments!
