The CW upfronts took place today and some major announcements were made. But perhaps none of them were as big as when The CW president Mark Pedowitz alluded to a major four-show crossover between the network's four DC shows.

Entertainment Weekly reported that Pedowitz told reporters, "Just imagine what our superhero crossover episode is going to look like come December. ... [It will be] our biggest one ever." If this statement is anything to go by, it looks like The CW may indeed be gearing up for an awesome four-way crossover event between Arrow, The Flash, Legends of Tomorrow and the newly acquired Supergirl.

We're excited, too, Barry!

It sounds like one hell of a crossover, doesn't it? If it does come to fruition, then we already know the when — but do we know the how? Let's take a look at some of the potential ways this crossover could take place.

Inter-Earth Traveling

Super friends: Flash and Supergirl.
Super friends: Flash and Supergirl.

Thanks to this year's Supergirl/The Flash crossover, we now know that, despite both shows being produced by Greg Berlanti, they do not take place in the same universe. The Flash, of course, takes place in the well-renowned Arrowverse, along with Arrow and Legends of Tomorrow, whereas Supergirl takes place on another Earth — Earth-Three, if we are to believe the reports. Thus, in order to make this crossover possible, somebody is going to have to travel to another Earth. As Barry came to Kara's Earth in The Flash/Supergirl crossover, one could think it's time for Kara to finally make her way to the Arrowverse and hook up with the Super Friends on Earth-One. Time will tell.

Speaking of time...

Time Traveling

If the cast of Legends of Tomorrow are involved, one might assume that time traveling won't be far from the fore. After all, their leader Rip Hunter is a former Time Master! Perhaps Rip, Sara and co. (as well as any new potential cast members) might time travel into the future of the Arrowverse, where a possible Earth-One version of Supergirl would be well established. Who could ever forget when they traveled to Star City in 2046 and came face to face with a bitter, aged Green Arrow? Berlanti and fellow producer Andrew Kreisberg did allude to an Earth-One Kara during interviews for The Flash/Supergirl crossover. And so the creative team wouldn't have to worry about their heroes jumping into alternate Earths.

A Really Major 'Big Bad'

Big Bad: Vandal Savage

Much like last year's Arrow/The Flash crossover, which saw the heroes and their respective teams come together to stop the rampage of Vandal Savage, this four-way crossover could feature a villain so big and so powerful that everyone in the Arrowverse would need all the help they could get. Thus, Barry could travel through worlds and bring in his Super Friend Kara to save the day. It worked so well last year, it could happen again. This could be a job for — Supergirl!

A Dream Sequence

Speedy: The Flash races Supergirl.

This is probably the least likely possibility, but I thought it was worth including anyway. Perhaps a metahuman could create some form of alternate reality for the Flash and he would end up having to work with potential alternate versions of all these characters. After all, Barry Allen is the only character who has likely made contact with all of the heroes in question. It wouldn't be real, but it would most certainly be epic!

DC Trinity: Arrow, Supergirl, the Flash

In conclusion, there are endless possibilities as to how the geniuses behind the DC TV Universe could come up with the epic four-way crossover. Rest assured, we probably haven't even thought of it yet. We have seen The Flash cross over with Arrow on multiple occasions as well as the special internetwork crossover with Supergirl. Arrow has crossed over with Legends of Tomorrow on multiple occasions as well. So with all that in mind, it's going to be one tall order, bringing these four well-established TV series together. But no matter how it happens, one thing is for sure: When it happens, it's going to be EPIC!

Are you excited at the prospect of a four-show epic crossover event? Or would you prefer the shows remained separate and focused on their own narratives? Let us know in the comments!
