Fans are clamoring to see Margot Robbie as Harley Quinn in Suicide Squad, but the star's next role could be something decidedly less flashy.
Variety reports that the actress is in early talks to star alongside her About Time co-star Domhnall Gleeson in Goodbye Christopher Robin, an upcoming biopic from director Simon Curtis, centered on Winnie the Pooh creator A.A. Milne.
Gleeson is set to star as Milne in the film, which will follow the author's troubled relationship with his son Christopher Robin Milne. That name will sound familiar to Winnie the Pooh fans, as he was the inspiration for Christopher Robin in the Pooh stories. Assuming the deal goes through, Robbie will play Milne's wife Dorothy.
Goodbye Christopher Robin would be a major change for Robbie, who's spending this summer in blockbusters Suicide Squad and The Legend of Tarzan. You wouldn't expect Robbie to feature in a period biopic, but with her ever-rising star power it makes sense for the actress to move toward more prestige projects. If Suicide Squad and Tarzan perform well, Robbie will be a bona fide box office draw. Taking on more serious roles will show she's a legitimate actress in addition to a profitable star.
