Did we? Same Old World, the third episode of In Too Deep, premiered earlier. The episode was interesting, giving us a glimpse of the Rebellion, the sad past of Lapis Lazuli, and her imprisonment in the mirror. We saw a lot of Jaspers in the war, but one came from the left side, which we can assume is the Crystal Gems' side; the gem who punched Lapis right in her gem:

Who could this gem be? There's definitely a reason why her hair is colored.

Bismuth

Theories about this gem being Bismuth have populated Tumblr since the episode ended. But why Bismuth?

  • Actual Bismuth Colour

In the real world, Bi's are very colorful, similar to how this gem's hair is. The appearance of a gem is based on the actual gemstone. Like all the other gems, they project a body having different shades of the colors of their gemstones. Probably the reason why the gem's design for her body wasn't shown is to avoid spoilers.

  • Gemstone Shape

Lion's mane dimension

The gem's gemstone is rectangular, relevant to the bubbled gem inside Lion's mane. A gemstone has two sides and also, there not always circular (Like how all the Crystal Gems' are). This gem's gemstone is very different, having a square-like spiral in the core.

Here's just a few reasons why the mysterious gem is likely to be Bismuth, but another question is asked. If this is Bismuth and it is confirmed that Bismuth is the bubbled gem inside Lion's mane, why is she bubbled?

  • Gone Too Far

Even though Rose fought Homeworld, there's a possibility that she still cared for them. Now in the flashback, Lapis wasn't fighting. She was just standing there. It's like she's been pushed away by a crowd while heading to her home. And then this gem just attacks her for no reason. There is a reason and that is to fight the Homeworld gems. But, we can assume that this gem saw Lapis doing nothing. What if Bismuth went too far and Rose Quartz destroyed and bubbled her for a while to prevent her from going too far? There are other ways, but Rose just wanted to be sure.

What do you think? Do you think this is Bismuth or just some random gem who was just planned to have this rainbow hair? Comment below!
