(Warning: If you haven't yet seen the season finale of DC and The CW's 'Legends of Tomorrow,' then the following contains major SPOILERS — as well as potential ones for future episodes of the show. Proceed with whatever level of caution that suggests to you is wise.)
Now, with Legends of Tomorrow's season finale having finally arrived last night, we edged a step closer to bringing the house lights down on yet another awesome year of CW-set, DC-themed awesomeness — with The Flash and Arrow set to conclude next week. Thankfully, though — seeing as we're now going to have to wait for an entire summer to find out what happens next — Legends of Tomorrow arrived with an intriguing setup for Season 2 in tow, one which could be set to change the Flarrowverse forever.
(And note, this is where those aforementioned SPOILERS really start to kick in.)
Legends of Tomorrow Just Introduced an Iconic Super-Team
Specifically, that one: The Justice Society of America. Predating the Justice League by almost twenty years, the Justice Society holds a hallowed place within DC's comic book history — not least because it featured several soon-to-become-iconic superheroes, including Wonder Woman, Green Lantern and The Flash. With the rise to prominence of the Justice League putting the Society firmly in its shadow though, the old gang has lost a lot of its one-time prominence, and largely faded from pop cultural sight.
Until now, that is.
Y'see, having spent much of its first season heavily teasing the team, Legends of Tomorrow has finally confirmed not only the team's existence, but also the Society's imminent importance to the next season of the show, by having a longtime member of the team, Rex "Hourman" Tyler, turn up to greet the Legends.
Now, Tyler has been teased by the show before — and with Patrick J. Adams (of Suits fame) having recently been revealed to be cameo-ing, his appearance as Rex Tyler isn't hugely surprising — but his appearance still hints at some huge things to come next season. The reason?
The Justice Society Could Change The Flarrowverse Forever
After all, with the Society having featured a whole lot of current DC/CW heroes on its roster over the years, the implication of its arrival is surely that we'll eventually see a similar team emerge on the mainstream Arrow and The Flash-set Earth — and in the meantime, may well see alternate versions of our heroes team up in Legends of Tomorrow.
In other words? We might already have a pretty good idea of what the recently teased four-way crossover between Legends of Tomorrow, Arrow, The Flash and the newly arrived on the CW Supergirl is going to focus on — and it could be superteam-tastic.
The big question now, though?
What do YOU think?
How big a deal do you think the Justice Society will end up being in the Flarrowverse?
