Baywatch star Zac Efron has worked hard in the past decade to distance himself as much as possible from his High School Musical days, working on a variety of hit films while building a muscular frame far removed from Troy Bolton's teenage physique.
However, despite the fact that he takes his shirt off more than the entire cast of Showgirls combined, Zac has revealed some surprisingly negative views of his own image in a candid interview for Mens Fitness:
“I step back and look at myself and I still want to kick that guy’s ass sometimes. Like, f-ck that guy. He’s done some kind of cool things with some cool people—he did that one thing [Neighbors] that was funny—but, I mean, he’s still just that fu–ing kid from [High School Musical].”
Every man on the entire planet may be envious of Zac's physique, but it turns out that even stars who compete with Dwayne Johnson in pull-up contests can have insecurities too.
Discussing his workout goals, Efron revealed that he wants to be lean, stating that;
"When I put on a T-shirt, I don’t want people to go, ‘Oh, that guy’s a bodybuilder.’”
Don't feel too bad for the Neighbors 2 star though.
In the interview, Zac also discussed the positive effects of his training in more depth, revealing that it's not all bad;
“Right now I’m probably the physically strongest I’ve ever felt. Not in terms of bench press or how much I can squat, but in how quickly I could get out of this room and destroy everything in my path. If the zombie apocalypse happened right now, I’d definitely be able to defend myself.”
People who don't like Efron may be disappointed to hear that he could survive if the undead take over, but it's reassuring to know that beautiful people like him will help repopulate the earth one day.
It's ok Zac. We're all in this together.
