A new piece of concept art has been released from Thor: Ragnarok, showing Cate Blanchett's godly character.

Marvel released a lot of info about Thor: Ragnarok today, including the casting of Jeff Goldblum as Grandmaster and Karl Urban as Asgardian warrior Skurge but the biggest piece of news regards the character Cate Blanchett is playing. Marvel have now revealed that Blanchett will be portraying Hela, the Asgardian Goddess of Death.

There has been a lot of speculation surrounding the character Blanchett is playing, but now that it's official we can start looking forward to Hela joining the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

“The continuation of the epic Thor franchise will be powerful and unique, and with the additions of Cate, Jeff, Tessa, Karl, and Mark to the cast we have the makings of his most dangerous and heroic adventure yet,” said Producer Kevin Feige. “The sheer, raw talent each of these actors brings to the screen can’t be quantified. Having any one of them join the Marvel Cinematic Universe would be an honor, and having all of them is incredible."

Personally I love the first Thor movie, it fit perfectly with the first phase of Marvel movies, but admittedly the sequel Thor: The Dark World didn't manage to maintain my love for the character. The fact that Marvel has taken the time with the third instalment of Thor and that they're casting these great actors in exciting new roles.

The concept art above shows Cate Blanchett's Hela standing before Asgard's army, and she doesn't seem too worried. Thor: Ragnarok is expected to bring an end to Thor's home world, so it's now big surprise to hear that Cate Blanchett is portraying the Goddess of Death.

Now that Captain America: Civil War is in theatres and dominating the box-office we can begin to look forward to upcoming MCU movies. We haven't seen Thor since Avengers: Age of Ultron when he left to investigate the appearance of yet another infinity stone.

Thor: Ragnarok is set for release November 3, 2017.
