Jessica Jones's Jeri Hogarth, a.ka. actor Carrie-Anne Moss, is officially joining Iron Fist for its debut season, adding further connective tissue between Marvel's Netflix shows. The character also made a brief appearance in Daredevil Season 2.
Head of Marvel TV Jeph Loeb spoke about the casting:
“Carrie-Anne has fast become a fan-favorite part of our street level saga, and we share our viewers’ excitement in bringing her into ‘Marvel’s Iron Fist. As Marvel fans know, Hogarth in the comics plays a critical role in the life of Danny Rand so it seems only fitting that Carrie-Anne join in.”
The role he's referring to is Hogarth's counterpart is that of Jeryn Hogarth (the character is a man in the comics), who is an old associate of Iron Fist's father and winds up acting as the attorney for the Heroes for Hire, the superhero agency that Iron Fist and Luke Cage form. It's probably not surprising that she'll be showing up in Iron Fist, given the characters' histories together.
Iron Fist showrunner Scott Buck added:
"Danny Rand lives in the highest stratosphere of New York's business society and he's going to need a ruthless lawyer to help him navigate this alien world. I'm very happy to have the opportunity to bring Carrie-Anne Moss as Jeri Hogarth into Marvel's Iron Fist."
Definitely a cool, if not entirely unexpected, bit of news from the world of Marvel. Iron Fist has no release date yet, but is expected to arrive in 2017.
