The aftermath of the season 11 titled "We Happy Few" has left some serious questions as to where things will go when season 12 kicks off next year. The story so far has left Sam and Dean Winchester backed in a horrible corner by Amara's actions against her brother. Also, a surprise move behind the scenes made after the show also lends to the theory that maybe season 12 of Supernatural will be the last for this legendary show. Let's talk about where things are left, and get to the bottom of this.

The big fight happened, and even though it certainly wasn't fair, round 1 most definitely went to Amara. She took the best shot Rowena and the witches could throw, survived a second heavenly smiting, a head on demon attack led by Crowley, and a stab in the gut by Lucifer. Chuck Almighty thought he had his sister on the ropes and let down his guard long enough for Amara to counter attack and lay the supreme smack down unlike no other on the Good Lord and his favorite son

Did they just kill off THE DEVIL?

It appears so. Lucifer, trying to save his holy father from the clutches of The Darkness may have met his end, although this does not guarantee that Castiel is dead. Lucifer, the bane of Heaven, the deceiver, the defiler of all that is good may have gone bye, bye but not before giving us a very warm, touching scene between father and son. The fictional 'what-if' sit-down between God and his defiant son happened in the Winchester bunker and whether you are a believer or not, the scene will leave you emotional.

So where does that leave us for Season 12?

God is down for an eight count, Lucifer bit the dust, Rowena's witches are dead, and Amara is back to being all powerful. Yea, the end is nigh with the Winchesters fighting for the life of the whole universe in what may be the biggest story of Supernatural history. The question is, will this be the last?

Jeremy Carver is stepping down from his post as showrunner to work on the new CW show Frequency. Robert Singer and newcomer Andrew Dabb will be taking over the duties as we go into uncharted territory for the show, and all the elements are coming into place for this to be the grand endgame for Supernatural. The buildup for the Amara character is such that it will take one hell of a twist to defeat her, and the fact that Lucifer may be dead is not to be ignored. This will be one hell of an ending, that for sure! They may succeed and kill off Amara, but there will be a price as always and Dean might be served up to pay it.

On top of that, Jared Padalecki (33 yrs old) and Jensen Ackles (38 yrs old), who have spent 11 years bringing Sam and Dean Winchester to fans at some point will want to move on. Yea, it's hard to imagine these great actors leaving what many believe to be the best characters in CW/WB history, but it will be so one day. The story will come to an end for Sam and Dean, on their terms because they have earned it. The question is, will it be at the end of Season 12?
