We first saw that Robin was indeed a part of the DC Cinematic Universe back when the second trailer for Batman v Superman: Dawn Of Justice was released and we saw the costume of a dead Robin hanging in the Batcave. Many of us assumed we'd learn more about the character and his death in the full film but alas, we didn't learn anything, not even which Robin this costume belonged to.

In the comics, Batman has had many sidekicks, most of which take up the Robin mantle. Dick Grayson, Damian Wayne, Carrie Kelly, Tim Drake, Jason Todd etc. So which Robin is this?

Warner Bros. Studios recently took to Facebook Live to give fans a quick virtual look of the Warner Bros. Studio Tour. The tour gave us looks at props, costumes and more, the tour came to the Robin costume from Batman v Superman and confirmed this about the character:

This was one of the big things from Batman v Superman, right across this way. The Jason Todd/Robin suit. Spray painted on the front, ‘Ha-Ha. The joke’s on you Batman.’ Those of you that know the storyline, know what happened to this Robin.

So, like many of us once predicted, this costume did indeed belong to Jason Todd. The Robin that was 'murdered' by the Joker by being beaten with a crow bar and the building he was left in being blown up. Jason Todd was the second character to take up the mantle of Robin, after Dick Grayson.

Now that this is confirmed for the DC Cinematic Universe, this could play a big role in future films. We know that Ben Affleck is now confirmed to be directing and starring in a standalone Batman film, heavily reported to be titled, The Batman. Jason Todd wasn't in fact killed at the hands of the Joker, he came back as the vigilante, Red Hood. This could make for a great plot in the standalone Batman film. If you want more on the Red Hood story, check out the animated film, Batman: Under The Red Hood or play Batman: Arkham Knight.
