Considering the caliber and cult status of its predecessor, Independence Day: Resurgence has a lot to live up to. And judging from the latest extended trailer, Roland Emmerich's sci-fi epic will deliver.
Set 20 years after the original Independence Day (1996), Resurgence sees an even bigger, even more CGI-heavy and generally earth-shattering threat to the human race.
Liam Hemsworth stars as US pilot Jake Morrison, while Jeff Goldblum and Bill Pullman return as David Levinson and President Whitmore, respectively. Check out the two in action in the colossal trailer below:
Now tell me that doesn't get your pulse racing?! Although Will Smith won't be returning, the trailer suggests Goldblum and Pullman's characters will play integral roles in the battle against the super-advanced alien race.
