Marvel Studios is planning on bringing a huge variety of Marvel characters together on screen in 2018 with the release of Avengers: Infinity War. If you think about who the Avengers are going up against, they're going to need all the help they can get. After the release of the first Guardians of the Galaxy film, the Marvel Cinematic Universe has expanded itself all of the way out into the far reaches of space. The film not only introduced classic comic species, but ignited the flame for the future of Phase 3. As of now, it's been a big question among Marvel fans whether or not the Guardians of the Galaxy will make an appearance in the two part Infinity War.
They Have To, Right?
Guardians of the Galaxy writers Christopher Markus and Stephen McFeely discussed the team's possible role in the upcoming film in a recent interview with Nerdist, and Markus speculated on how they could enter the picture:
"Let me put it this way. You know who owns that gauntlet, right. And you know who’s in another movie and his kids are in that movie — you do the math.”
With Markus putting it that way, it looks as if it's already confirmed to happen in the future, which is what we're all hoping for. This also isn't the first time the Guardians of the Galaxy writers have discussed their characters' involvement in Infinity War. Check out what Markus told The Verge earlier this month.
We're Talking About The Kids Of The Villain Over Here!
Considering the fact that Nebula and Gamora are Thanos' conflicting daughters, and that both have an inner hatred toward their father, there's no reason for them not to team up against the Mad Titan. Gamora was forcibly taken by Thanos as a child and Nebula hates him for what he's turned her into. Nebula joining the fight would definitely be a possibility.
The Infinity Stones
As we saw in the first film, the Guardians of the Galaxy already have insight into what Thanos is after: the Infinity Stones. They also know the damage just one of them can cause. I'm sure once they realize that the whole galaxy is going to be in deep danger when Thanos gets all of the stones, they might attempt to take matters into their own hands. Of course, taking him on by themselves will prove to be difficult, which is why the Avengers will be there to help.
