Continue only if you have seen the Gotham season 2 finale episode titled "Transference".
As usual, Gotham has delivered an episode that makes our hearts pound and our hands sweat. This is a given when there are boatloads of characters that fans care about and love dearly. Detectives Gordon and Bullock, villains Penguin and Riddler, billionaire Bruce Wayne, the list goes on and on. But there is one character that everyone has been on edge about returning ever since we found out that Hugo Strange is bringing people back to life.
Jerome, sweet Jerome.
Jerome has been missed ever since he was killed by Theo Galavan in the 3rd episode of the season titled "The Last Laugh". But how can the Joker die? Well, "maybe he's not the Joker," they said. "Maybe he just inspires the Joker," they pondered. But for this show, can anyone really pull it off like he can? Maybe, maybe not. So, what if he is the Joker?
This brings us to the end of the season 2 finale. Gordon faces the conflict of potentially killing thousands of people with Strange's bomb, or to let his monsters run loose on the streets of Gotham. Gordon chooses the later. But before they can then capture those monsters, they are released by a concerned citizen.
The Walking Dead...Alive!
Pay close attention to who's standing farthest on the left. Do you see him? Let's take a closer look!
The reddish hair? The pale skin? Now don't get me wrong, I know that Gotham has a way of twisting things and making unexpected turns, but how can you twist this any other way? If you're still not sure, go back and watch that last scene. You will unmistakably hear what can only be interpreted as a maniacal laugh.
Is Jerome heading back to Gotham? I certainly hope so. Let's just pray that we're as lucky as Jerome himself playing a friendly game of Russian Roulette.
