What's more exciting than a blockbuster action film by the creative team behind Macbeth based upon the widely popular and narrative rich video game franchise [Assassin's Creed](tag:437814)? The answer is, of course, the merchandising for that adaptation.

We kid, of course. Well, I mean, if McFarlane Toys start mass-producing affordable hidden-blades that's a whole new ball game and we're totally in. But the first piece of merchandise has arrived now and it's looking pretty shiny. Almost as shiny as those blades we saw in the first trailer.

McFarlane Toys — the action figure manufacturer established by Spawn creator Todd McFarlane — just revealed a sneaky peek at the very first of what we hope will be a line of Assassin's Creed figures based upon the upcoming movie and VR experience, check it out below.

Here McFarlane Toys action figures present a 7-inch action rendering of the lead character Aguilar, portrayed in the movie by heavyweight actor Michael Fassbender. Aguilar and his modern-day descendant Callum Lynch serve as an adaptation of the lead series protagonists from the video games — Desmond Miles and his Animus-found ancestors Altaïr Ibn-La'Ahad and Ezio Auditore da Firenze (try saying those names five times after a few drinks).

The Assassin's Creed figures are created from 3D model scans of the actors, in this case Michael Fassbender himself. And as far as action figures go it actually looks quite true to form, though perhaps not the "an exact likeness" McFarlane Toys market it as. It is very close though.

The mini-Aguilar comes complete with an Assassin Sword (exactly which Assassin sword it is remains to be seen, there's a lot to choose from) and an Extended Hidden Blade. Every good assassin needs a hidden blade, we wonder if it's also retractable though. Safety first.

You can get your hands on Aguilar for a pretty reasonable $20, a couple months before the movie premieres. The figure goes on sale the beginning of October via "mass retail locations and online", presumably via McFarlane Toys action figures, the website for which you can purchase other Assassin's Creed figures from the games.

As for how you can get your hands on Michael Fassbender, that's a whole other ball game. Here's our advice — Step One: be Alicia Vikander.

Assassin's Creed is set for release December 21, 2016, and the sequel is reportedly already in the works!
