ComiXology is already one of the most popular digital comics platforms, and now it's expanding its offerings with a newly announced service fittingly described as "Netflix for comics."

Dubbed ComiXology Unlimited, the new subscription service offers fans an impressive array of back-catalog offerings from the likes of Image Comics, IDW Publishing, BOOM! Studios and Dark Horse Comics for a monthly fee of $5.99.

When discussing the new service, ComiXology CEO and co-founder David Steinberger had this to say:

“We’re in a new golden age of storytelling with more incredible comics, graphic novels and manga than ever before. ComiXology Unlimited is fantastic portal to tons of great comics at a ridiculously great price. Get in there and start exploring."

Like Netflix, ComiXology Unlimited will have a rotating selection of titles for users, with series consistently added and removed from the service. Currently, the service includes popular series like The Walking Dead, Red Sonja, Hellboy, Hip Hop Family Tree and Sex Criminals among others.

There's no official word on whether ComiXology Unlimited will offer the most recent issues of ongoing titles in its catalog, meaning that some fans might want to stick with the platform's traditional service. But for fans looking to dip their toes into the world of comics, ComiXology Unlimited offers a solid set of acclaimed titles for a low price.
