Now that Charles Xavier's team has stopped Apocalypse from bringing about, well, the apocalypse, fans have begun to fervently speculate about the future of the X-Men on screen.
In an interview with Collider, producer Simon Kinberg revealed that:
"Right now, as the movie exists, Professor X would be a part of a 'New Mutants' movie."
The New Mutants represent the next generation of students training at Xavier's School for Gifted Youngsters, so it makes sense that Charles would play a part in the film, likely mentoring the X-Men hopefuls on their first mission.
What Kinberg neglected to mention though is who will play Xavier in this YA themed spin-off. Will Charles be played by James McAvoy, following on from X-Men: Apocalypse, or will see Patrick Stewart reprise his part as an older version of Xavier?
Whatever happens, we can't wait to see the likes of Cannonball, Magick, Karma, Mirage and Warlock finally hit the big screen over the next few years or so.
In the meantime, see if you can spot any of these potential "New Mutants" below in this infomercial Fox created to advertise Xavier's School for the Gifted during promotion of X-Men: Apocalypse.
