I don't know about you, but being a movie fanatic can be a little exhausting sometimes. 2016 in particular has been like riding an express train stopping at various stations to pick up superheroes. Sometimes you become so hyped for the destination, you forget to enjoy the journey.

If you're not sure where I'm going with this metaphor, neither am I, but basically what I'm getting is that 20th Century Fox just dropped the first teaser trailer for a new sci-fi thriller named Morgan, a film which was not on my radar this morning but most definitely is now.

Check out the trailer in all its chilly, mysterious glory.

As teasers go, this one is pretty artfully executed, teasing just enough about the story to pique the old curiosity without actually revealing anything at all.

Kate Mara plays a corporate "risk management consultant", currently nameless, sent to a remote lab to evaluate the fallout of a horrific incident seemingly caused by an apparently innocent (but evidently dangerous) girl named Morgan.

Born and raised in the lab as a result of an Artificial Intelligence experiment, Mara is charged with taking a decision on whether or not to terminate Morgan. The entire premise feels like it has considerable echoes of Ex Machina, another AI thriller and possibly the best movie of 2015.

This one is written and directed by Luke Scott, son of the legendary Ridley (who also produces), and has a killer cast including Mara, Paul Giamatti (Straight Outta Compton), Boyd Holbrook (Narcos), Jennifer Jason Leigh (The Hateful Eight) and Rose Leslie, everybody's favourite dead wildling.

What's hiding beneath Morgan's hoodie?

Toby Jones, the fabulously evil HYDRA scientist Zola from Captain America: The First Avenger, also co-stars, stepping out of his comfort zone by playing... a (possibly) evil scientist. Hey, the man's found his niche.

We need to talk about Morgan.
We need to talk about Morgan.

Morgan hits theaters on September 2, 2016, and you can probably expect a proper trailer in the next few weeks. Until then, I want to know...

Will anyone get out of 'Morgan' alive?
