*WARNING: Spoilers for Game of Thrones, Season 6, Episode 5.

If you're anything like me, chances are you're still reeling after Sunday night's mind-blowing episode of Game of Thrones. "The Door" was chock-full of jaw-dropping moments, including one in which we realized Hodor's demise was 20 years in the making.

Game of Thrones creators D.B. Weiss and David Benioff took to Jimmy Kimmel Live! to apologize to their fans — for the first time ever. Not because they killed yet another beloved character — R.I.P., Hodor — but because they've created a new, annoying, and soon-to-be-everywhere reference.

Check out the heartfelt apology for their most heinous transgression here:

"We're sorry for all the idiots who, from now on, will be shouting 'Hodor!' every time you go through a door."

We get it. You watch Game of Thrones. So does the entire world!

"We forgot how annoying people could be. That's our bad."

Just don't be that guy. Don't desecrate Hodor's memory like that.

"We can kill people in real life, too."

So the next time someone yells "HODOR" instead of "Hold the door," you reserve the right to (metaphorically) stab them straight in the back, Game of Thrones style.

Game of Thrones airs Sunday nights on HBO.

What did you think of Hodor's fate? Let us know in the comments section.
