As far as superhero movies come we are blessed with some truly amazing casts. It's so exciting when big time actors likes Brie Larson, Ben Affleck, and Benedict Cumberbatch join the world of superheroes by putting on a cape or the cloak of levitation.

The Marvel Cinematic Universe has some top end actors like Robert Downy Jr. and Academy nominated actor Mark Ruffalo, but Doctor Strange has some of the biggest names in Hollywood all in one movie. From the tea loving Benedict Cumberbatch to the wildly amazing Tilda Swinton, this movie has definitely got one of the top casts in the MCU. Without further ado, let's have a look at this strange cast, shall we?. Let's run down through this strange cast, shall we.

Chiwetel Ejiofor as Baron Mordo

British actor Chiwetel Ejiofor is known to be a fantastic actor from his critically acclaimed performance in 12 Years a Slave. The star of Doctor Strange, Benedict Cumberbatch. was also in the movie 12 Years A Slave which may have given these two some more chemistry, knowing the two have worked together before.

In Doctor Strange Chiwetel Ejiofor will play Baron Mordo. Fans of Doctor Strange will know Baron Mordo as a villain to Stephen Strange, but it looks as though he'll be playing a mentor and a friend.. This may be a possible setup for the sequel of Doctor Strange where he'll be an enemy to the Sorcerer Supreme.

Rachel McAdams as Christine Palmer

Like Chiwetel Ejiofor, Rachel McAdams has also been nominated for an Oscar like , but her nomination was for best-supporting actress in the Oscar-wining movie Spotlight, I personally thought she should have snatched the Academy Award as her performance was brilliant. You've most likely come across her already;, maybe it was on the small screen on True Detective or in everyone's favorite chick flick, Mean Girls, she's had many roles where she proves to be a phenomenal actress.

She'll be taking on the role as Christine Palmer, a night nurse. As far as the comics go, she's never really had any connections to Doctor Strange and rarely appears in titles, but here's a little description Kevin Feige gave on her character:

"A fellow surgeon that has a history with Strange and is his sort of lynchpin to his old life, once he steps into he role of a sorcerer. She is someone he connects with at the beginning, and reconnects with, and helps anchor his humanity."

From this we can derive that Rachel McAdams character will be Stephens Strange guide back into reality. She may be his love interest in the film or or someone he used to love just in order to develop his character through the movie and for some context with regards to his origin.

Benedict Wong as Wong

Benedict Cumberbatch isn't the only Benedict in this cast. That's right, Benedict Wong will also be in Doctor Strange playing Wong. The British actor has been in Netflix's Marco Polo and the award-winning movie The Martian.

In the comics, we haven't actually seen Wong have any powers of his own, but he has mastered martial arts. It's been confirmed by Benedict Wong that Wong will be different from the comics, and according to Benedict Wong, he's "certainly not going to be the tea-making manservant,” but more of a "drill sergeant." Wong will not be a master of martial arts in the film but will be a master of sorcery according to actor, Benedict Wong.

Mads Mikkelsen as Kaecilius

Let's be honest, Mads Mikkelsen was born to play a villain. Whenever he appears on the screen he send shivers down my spine. When I heard he was cast as the villain of Doctor Strange, I was full of joy. Just knowing he's going to be a villain was all I needed to know to convince me that he's going to be pretty amazing.

You probably Mikkelsen from movies like Casino Royale, The Hunt and King Arthur but many would recognize him as Dr Hannibal Lecter from NBCs Hannibal, which now has unfortunately been cancelled.

Why I'm excited to see Mads Mikkelsen as the villain in Doctor Strange is because he may end the line of bad villains in the MCU, especially because Marvel's movie universe isn't best known for their villains. There's not much to be said about his character yet, which leaves fans in for a surprise. What we do know he wants to try and expose the world to threats from different dimensions.

Tilda Swinton as The Ancient One

Tilda Swinton has received some heavy criticism for taking on the role as the Ancient One, who who, in the comics, is originally an ancient Tibetan man, as the name suggests. So when it was announced that Tilda Swinton will play The Ancient One this easily caused controversy.

Marvel Studios and Tilda Swinton have both spoken up about this creative decision and as someone who was annoyed at first, I can respect the choices made for this casting and that's mainly because Tilda Swinton is just such an incredible actress.

She always takes on these strange roles and leaves her mark on them. In lots of her roles she's unrecognizable. The Oscar-winning actress is most known for starring movies such as We Need to Talk About Kevin, Adaptation, The Chronicles of Narnia: The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe and Moonrise Kingdom.

Benedict Cumberbatch as Dr. Stephen Strange

Benedict Cumberbatch, have so much to say about-about this wonderful English actor. Many of my friends would know Benedict Cumberbatch is one of my favorite actors and Doctor Strange is actually one of my favorite comic book characters. Having him play Doctor Strange is a dream come true.

Nominated for an Oscar, this actor has won the hearts of many fans with his roles in movies like The Imitation Game, Star Trek Into Darkness, Black Mass, The Hobbit: The Desolation of Smaug and of course his most iconic role as Sherlock Homes in BBCs Sherlock.

Cumberbatch hopes that the superhero fantasy film Doctor Strange will surprise us all and he told Collider about some of the character arcs that Stephen Strange will go through.

Quite how much he suffers and how extraordinary his willpower is. I think that's his main superhero trait, is that the guy is sort of unstoppably stubborn. He won't cease. And that's great, because you see this character really go through the grinder. It's non-stop punishment for this dude. What he has to become and how quickly he's tested in the new arena that he becomes this person is so violent, so sudden, so non-stop, and psychologically brutal as well as physically very very brutal. It's a huge character arc. So I think that might surprise people.

From all the footage we've seen from Doctor Strange, I think it's safe to say that this movie will differentiate itself itself from other superhero movies with all the mind bending magic it'll have, and with Scott Derrickson directing you can be sure that there'll be some horror elements.

This can't be unseen
This can't be unseen

Doctor Strange is by far my most anticipated movie ever and that's mainly because I love the comic book character so much and I have a lot of faith in the creative team, who I believe will do justice for this character. The cast is also another reason why I'm looking forward to this movie so much. Having Benedict Cumberbatch in a superhero movie was once a dream, and with Mad Mikkelsen playing the villain, it just can't get any better. Just take my money, Marvel.

This cast is full of so many amazing actors and I can't wait to see it on the big screen, especially with all the mind-bending special effects. Share your excitement in the comment section down below.

Doctor Strange will be in theaters on November 4th, 2016.
